No, I’d say you agreed with the view that people who, in your eyes, sin, need to repent.

I love how a ‘like’ somehow reflects a view that never even existed but an open statement in which he professes to love everyone, means nothing.

Jog on

Give up champ; you're embarrassing yourself.
(And i'd say it's actually immoral to 'love everyone' too...but that might be too complex a notion for you to grapple with)

Ablett Snr was maybe the 3rd or 4th best forward of his generation
To be fair, he only played as a Key Forward for 3 years how long did the 3 or 4 you rate ahead of him play there?

Seniors best football is up there if not the best football of all time.

Ablett's best football for a long time was very consistent and top 2 in the league but his peak performance and impact on games probably isn't the best of all players during his career. Judd 04-06 was on another level and Franklin's peak I think also shades Jnr. Junior will go down as one of the all time greats and one of the all time greatest mids.

His father however made his peers look stupid and had one of the most Amazing stats of all time. He averaged more disposals and more goals away from home than at his home ground. This is a guy who for periods made Lockett and Dunstall look nowhere near him and played on and destroyed some of the games greatest ever defenders. He did it from a wing, HFF and as an undersized FF. He was only 3cm taller than Jnr at 185cm regularly giving up 10cm or close to it against his direct opponent.
Junior. Reckon Senior might not have the defensive side for today's game.

If you want bums on seats, then Senior every day of the week.

There is no comparison.

Senior is the greatest player to have played the game from the 60's onwards and most likely the greatest of all time.

His son is good but not a patch on his dad.

Only problem is his dad would be rubbed out all the time for high contact from bumps.

Fair enough assessment but given his physical capabilities, I think he’d adapt to today’s game and be a tackling machine
I honestly reckon senior would end up as a Cripps/Dangerfield inside mid today, and be deadly at it. Probably follow very much the trajectory his son did and end up in the forwardline.

Really it's a toss of the coin. I guess we won't know for another fifteen years when China perfects human cloning.

Senior. Junior has also had a fantastic career and deserves a lot of credit for working his arse off to turn himself from a very good to a generational player.

The power and skill of Senior was something to behold. He was lighting quick, aggressive and could do just about anything in the air and on the ground. If he got the ball anywhere around 60 metres it was going through the goals.

If Senior had the dedication and application of his kid he'd have been the complete footballer.

Players like GAS are rare. Mids are plentiful, so on that basis I'd take GAS

GAJ's 2007 through 2009 was the best I have ever seen a midfielder play, ever. Better than Judd, better than Voss/Buckley/Hird, better than Martin/Dangerfield. (Yes, I know we're both biased). Ablett Jr, IMO, was so far ahead of the competition in those three years that it was just a gulf back to the next-best player.

Definitely the best since Carey, and arguably the best since Matthews.

And I hate to say this... ... better than his father.

Senior.

Not because he was "better" but because he could play forward and kick a huge bag, or be put on the wing and cut the opposition to shreds. At his height, you could clearly develop him into a powerhouse mid. Crazy to think that he was 6cm shorter than Pendlebury and 10cm shorter than Cripps yet was stood by gorillas like Mick Martyn.

The versatility tips the scales for me.

I think Ablett seniors absolute best footy was better then Ablett juniors absolute best footy.

That said, I would take Junior, because for me the difference between his best and worst football was far less then that of his old man.
There seems to be some myth that Ablett Snr was inconsistent because he was such a mercurial player.

It's not true, he was consistently mercurial on a weekly basis for a decade. Only in his last year or two did he fade when too old.

He really could had been anything if he could had became comfortable being a professional athlete...Jnr was always saying how Nathan had far more natural ability than he did and you saw that in 2007

What a waste

For me my pick would easily be Snr ...I haven’t seen anyone come close to what he produced on the field he was an absolute beast

NINE times leading goal scorer for his club. Over a thousand goals in VFL footy. 3 Colemans, 4 AAs and a Norm Smith in a losing side. To call him inconsistent is grossly unfair.

Only remember Snr from 94 onwards and that was enough for me to rate him higher than Jnr. Kicking centuries in your mid thirties (he was 33 in 94 and 34 in 95) is unheard of and makes me wonder how good he was in his athletic prime during the 80's and early 90's.

You want to see Snr near his peak, set aside 2hrs and watch this masterclass

This was after only his 9th game for Geelong, kicked 8 goals playing wing/flank against some of the best competition around

Snr was just a good footballer in an era where footballers were pretty average really. If Snr played today he would be delisted by Geelong's VFL team. Football didn't start actually looking good with clean movement until about the mid to late 90s. Roosting the ball as far as you could to a pack/1on1 isnt highly skillful, impressive or as good to watch. Jnr easily

Nah kicking 60m on either foot isn't skillful, making a wet heavy ball in packs isn't skillful.
Jesus kids today have no idea
