Richmond, the Hawks you always knew were going to fight back to some degree. Their players didn't drop their heads. Richmond you could see the mental distegration of them unfolding before your eyes. By the 15 minute mark you knew they wouldn't recover and could just enjoy the show.

Richmond was a better feeling because it was a final and meant we played another week.

But Saturday night was a better effort against a better side who has monstered us in the past.

Last year we beat the Hawks at home and lost a pre lim on their home turf by 3 points?

Last year we beat them at home when they had 6 guys out who didnt play in the GF
2013.they beat us by 7.3 at home
2012 they beat us by 5.8 at home and 11.6 in Tassie
2011 they beat us by by 5.2 at home and 26.9 at the G

Last year we beat them at home and almost at the G with our run. Last week we smashed them in the clearances in the first half ie didnt let them beat us up like the last few years.

Hawthorn by a mile... much better opposition... they are back2back reigning premiers and have been in the last 3GF's, plus we were 2 key players down in Wines and Gray.

Richmond was amazing, dont get me wrong, but it was Richmond... not the greatest of oppositions.

it was an elimination final v a round 4 game....

Yeah that is true... but did we win the flag after flogging Richmond in the Elimination Final? Did we gain anything from that game to take into the following two weeks since it was such an easy win? Were we kicking against the breeze?

We were kicking against the breeze (well from where I was sitting the flags were flying towards the hill end), and can gain so much from that qtr to build for the rest of the season.

Richmond flogging was glorious after all their talking during the week.

However to do what we did to the reigning premiers is better for me

Looking at the two quarters individually you'd have to say the Hawks based from the quality of opposition and the way we were plucking goals out of our ass.

Based on emotion I'd say the Richmond game was more satisfying. From the slow build up all week, to the arrogant Richmond supporters, then travelling down for my first game at the Adelaide Oval, to come out in a final wearing the prison bars made all that bit sweeter.

last week annoyed the shit out of me with it bing a one qtr effort only
It annoyed me too but it wasnt a one quarter effort.
It was two quarters and a half of the third.

Sure they got some goals in the second and first half of the third but it was the last half of the third and all of the fourth when they started packing on the goals.
Unlike Richmond, Hawks aren't shit and wouldn't lie down and take the pounding.

Hawthorn for sure. They are a far better team than Richmond. That fact we could do that against the premiers of the last two years and still the benchmark of the competition, well that speaks for itself.

I'm trying to think of a third option so I can appear hip and edgy.

From the moment Westhoff scored his goal, to Hartlett and Schulz kicking their goals, only 45 seconds of game time elapsed.

3 goals in 45 seconds :drunk:

Yep, IIRC the first time we got a glimpse of this 'God-mode' was in 2013 when we played the Saints at the dome. 3 goals in 7 kicks from memory.

Round 9 2012 v Gold Coast at Carrarra. From 12.49-19.31 we scored 5.0-0.0. After the first goal there was a period from 14.6-16.36 when we scored 3 goals in 6 disposals and Gold Coast did not touch the ball.
