Which one would you invest in if you were to have a tilt at a flag in the near future?

I would take ours. Fev is one of the gun forwards of the competition and if Fisher and Waite can stay injury free they will take a huge load off the Fev. Kennedy is going into his second year and is bigger and stronger than 06 and is primed to have a huge second year. Betts is a high quality FP who can do the unbelievable.

While the Hawks look good also, I am more than happy to keep ours over the Hawks.

Jake Edwards will debut as a KP forward this year. 193cm KP forward with amazing burst speed and a heap of talent. It's all very well having a lot of forwardline talent, the problem in 2006 was lack of midfield delivery. Hopefully Murph and Gibbs will improve things, and possibly Grigg latter in the year. :)

Fevola is better than Williams. Fisher, Betts and Waites are more than handy secondary options and Roughead is more of a FB than anything. Added to the fact that Muston and Thorp haven't shown anything, Carlton win this one.

Who are Muston & Thorp?

edit:
Talk about grasping for straws...
Isn't Roughead a backline player?

Roughead is being groomed as forward as a lot of players begin their careers in defence before learning the caper. You are either being sarcastic or are just ignorant if you haven't heard of Muston and Thorp. Muston would have been a top 5 pick last in 2005 if he hadn't injured his knee and Thorp was our pick 6 this year. Muston has been rated as the fastest player at the club recently.
I think Carlton's on paper looks a bit more impressive but Hawthorn look set up for a very potent set up.

Fevola/Betts = Franklin/Williams

Fisher=Roughead

Waite > Muston

Kennedy=Thorp (A couple of games is not enough to consider him a class above just yet)

The gap will close fast I think.

Carltons is up and running already with Fev the mainstay.

Hawks is based on youth at the moment.
Franklin, Dowler, Roughead, Thorp will be key to us challenging thew top 4 in a few years.
Too early for us to be considered equal or better than the Blues ATM.

Although I rate Franklin highly, he really isn't in the same class as Fev. BTW we are yet to see the best of Fev - he is a freak talent. His best so far is only 60% of this guys potential - his achilles of course is his temperament. Josh Kennedy is the interesting one. He looks like becoming a massive crash and bash CHF. The guy is massive - 198cm, and 100kg plus now and still only 19yo. He hits packs very very hard, and is an amazing overhead mark with a monster reach. Only downside, is that he gets himself injured too often. Not many CHF's out there that extert a real J-Brown like physical presence. Jake Edwards is the Blues wildcard. Bottom aged high draft pick in 2005, son a of former star Richmond player. Jake is about 193cm now, and has a lot of natural ability. One of his distinguishing features, is his unbelievable burst speed over 20m, noted at draft camp. Denis is grooming Jake for a KP forward role in 2007. Setanta is another with KP forward ability, although Denis will keep him in the defensive half for the next year at least, for developmental purposes. Setanta is massive, extremely fast and a brilliant mark. In 2007, I think we'll see a fair bit of Bryce Gibbs on the HF flank, while he gradually improves his match fitness and adjusts to the tempo of the game, before being moved into the midfield fulltime. Gibbs was very effective in the forward line on occasions, in the SANFL last year. Has decent height, is good overhead and a excellent kick. While Betts is the Blues main crumber, this role will also be shared by Marc Murphy when he rests in the forward pocket. On paper at least, the Blues have a good forward structure to build on. Long way to go in terms of these players development though. :)

I'd take the Blues, because Fevola, Waite and Fisher are very dangerous, and with a big strong kid like Josh Kennedy coming through, its going to a ver tough forward line to contain once their midfield starts to become a bit more potent.

On those players I'd take Carlton, but I'm almost certain Hawthorn have more forward talent then Carlton, can another Hawks fans tell me some other guys you might have runnning around up forward?

Midfield delivery is key, and was generally terrible in 2006. Waite, Fisher and Kennedy were all injured for large parts of the year, and couldn't run into any decent form in 2006. Think that's why Denis is keen to throw Jake Edwards into the KP forward mix. Way too often, the other KP forwards were not playing, and Fev was against 3 defenders. :)

Fevola/Betts = Franklin/Williams

No chance.

Fevola >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Franklin/Williams

How does this sound:

Mathew Richardson, Nathan Brown, Kayne Pettifer, Kent Kingsley, Jack Riewoldt  also one of the best crumbers in the league when on fire - Andrew Krakouer

Jay Schulz, Polak, Pattison all play forward (Schulz is primarily a forward) and all 3 are first round draft picks. Cleve Hughes is a second rounder too who looks like an awesome FF/CHF. That's 4 quality talls waiting in the wings... Danny Meyer (first rounder too) plays a lot of FP or HFF roles too.

What! Are you feeling OK? :)

I'm feeling fine. I'll give credit where credit's due and Carlton's main strength is their forwardline, which carried them over the line in many games this year. Have a look at the stats, Fevola coleman medalist. Betts played well this year and I rate Waite as a third tall highly. Hawthorn's forwardline may improve but ATM it is inferior to Carlton's.
