Geelong: A loss this weekend would see the mighty Cats exit the finals series with after winning 2 of the last 3 Grand finals. Win and they have to get over, most probably, the Saints or perhaps the Dogs. Would anything other than a flag mean the Cats have under-acheived? If they lose Ablett to GC would they be able to get up for another tilt in 2011.

Collingwood: Finished 6 points clear on top of the the ladder.......and have no injuries. They are cherry ripe. If they lose this week or next have they missed their opportunity? It seems inevitable injuries and individual form loss will play a bigger part in their season in 2011. They have been there abouts for a few years now without making a real fist of it.

St Kilda: 2010 is probably their best chance. Does the premiership window slam shut if they lose this weekend or the next? If they dont win it this year is their list good enough going forward? The Lovett trade debacle and the loss of Ball could still bite hard in the next few years.

Western Bulldogs: Third preliminary final in a row says it all! Barry Hall has delivered what was hoped. Johnson is a fading star. Cooney is out. Where too for the Dogs if the fall over at the preliminary final stage again? They are limping home and appear the least likely of the four.

In 2011 it will become a bit harder to win a flag again..with the addition of a new team. All four teams have added pressures for various reasons. For mine the side under the most pressure to deliver is the Saints.

Collingwood is in the best shape heading forward, list wise. If it doesn't happen this year, there's no cause for great concern.

Cats and Saints have at least another season, but not much beyond that.

Dogs would have to be on their last chance.

the pies for sure

Collingwood: Finished 6 points clear on top of the the ladder.......

Actually Collingwood only finished 2 points clear on top, and had a lower percentage. It was closer than you think.

I don't think you can really say Geelong carries that much pressure beyond their usual high expectations. They've got 2 flags in the bag. Anything beyond that is icing on the cake. Geez, I'd be happy if I could see 2 flags for my team during my lifetime.

St Kilda, without a doubt. Have performed quite well for the most part over the last six years or so, almost won it last year. They would be under a heap of pressure to ensure that losing doesn't happen again, especially since its been so long since they've actually gained a Flag.

Geelong is under the least pressure, if they lose this weekend - well they've still won 2 flags.

The Dogs are next because nobody expects them to be a factor, it almost seems like Hall is there one year too late.

Saints and Pies are both under extraordinary pressure, moreso the Saints possibly as their window is probably going to close sooner than the Pies.

Hawks game was a dead rubber for us....not as close as you think either.

Collingwood easily....

- Finished top of the ladder
- 1 flag in 50 years ,
- Fans have been talking them up all year
- Malthouse has been at the helm too long without a premiership.

Collingwood is under immense pressure. They are favourites, their supporters ( or some of them ) also think the trophy is already in the cabinet.

Geelong has already established it's greatness as a team by winning 2 in 3 years, whilst St Kilda and the Bulldogs are expected to be cannon fodder by a lot of people for either Collingwood or Geelong in the GF.

Only one team under pressure and it's Collingwood

if the cats want to be the "greatest team of all" they need to win this one.

saints have pretty much been up there since 04, plus they desperately need to double their premiership tally, 105 years for 1 premiership isn't a good look haha.

pies have promised a lot the last year and a half, they need to win this to break the "collywobbles" hoodoo and be taken seriously in september again.

i feel sorry for the dogs because at full strength i reckon they would've had a real chance, but too many injuries at the wrong time of year. they need to win for the same reason as the saints, they've been in the last 3 preliminaries, that's gotta hurt if they don't make it. if they're gonna challenge next year they need hall to have another good year and the injury gods need to be kinder.

personally i hope either cats or dogs win, cats because they deserve it considering their dominance the past 4 years, dogs because they're the underdogs and have a likeable team for some reason, plus i like brad johnson.

Add to this the fact they are installing a rookie coach in 2012.

They have these 2 games and next year to produce a flag before they head into the wilderness again.
This will be weighing heavily on the club and it's supporters.

Very surprised by the poll results. I'd have thought that the Pies have another 2-3 years of window.

Saints under most pressure for me. Maybe another year to do it at best, 5 preliminary finals in last 7 years, if they come away from this era with nothing they will sorely feel it.

Saint Kilda is.

This is their last shot at a flag.

Milne, Hayes, Gardiner, Baker & co all above 30. Time is running out. Their youth in the VFL is substandard. They finished top in 2009, couldn't win a flag. In 2010, they have an easier passage to the GF. If they can't toast this year, they will never.

Collingwood right now are at about the level Geelong were at in 2007. Pendlebury, O'Brien, Heath Shaw, Dale Thomas, Ben Reid, Sidebottom, Beams, Travis Cloke, Dawes, etc, etc, still years off their prime footballing years.

They have been there abouts for a few years now without making a real fist of it.

The thing is, we've turned our list over since 2007.

From the 2007 PF to the 2010 QF, 15 of Collingwood's 22 has changed. None of the other 3 clubs in the Top 4 have turned their list over as much.

Read my first post. I agree Collingwood are under pressure.
That response was to a post about the last game of the H&A where there was no pressure at all.

Collingwood would have to be after the season theyve had. Theyve been blessed injury wise both ways. They havn't had a significent injury all season while all of the other top 4 teams have been struck hard. They would have to take full advantage of this. Its amazing that with all the other teams being hit hard with injury Collingwood only finished half a game on top.
