It can really turn around quickly during the off season.

Melbourne would likely be one of the least desirable lists, they’ve lost some known players and could bottom out in 2027
Melbourne have improved their list prospects medium to long term though.

They already have some good young players. Gold Coast gave them a huge bounty for a middling Petracca.

A couple of bottom 6 finishes should see them add some more quality young talent.

End of era turnovers are always difficult but if they nail the draft they can come back.

1. Westcoast
2. Essendon
3. Richmond
4. Melbourne
5. Carlton

It’s looking pretty grim for these 5
Richmond are in a tough part of the cycle and there is plenty of risk in such a complete rebuild but they have the talent and picks to work with. I would swap them for North in my bottom five.

I expect North to improve a lot next year but worry they max out as a mid-table side. I don’t see enough good forwards or defenders on their list.

The only reason we have players leaving is because Silvagni has a personal vendetta against Carlton, and is prepared to screw St Kilda's salary cap for the next 5-8 years just to get even.

Tom DeKoning's contract is the worst in the AFL and it's not even started. You've paid Jack Silvagni superstar money for someone who played 10 handy games in 2025 and prior to this was a fringe player who couldn't find a home forward or back. Otherwise the only player rumoured to want out is Charlie Curnow because Voss rightly called him a selfish and he's been sulking ever since.

There's two reasons why players aren't leaving St Kilda. That is unless you ignore Josh Battle, who I believe left for Hawthorn. The first reason is that you have hardly any decent players, and the St Kilda list is the biggest compilation of mediocrity of any AFL club. The other reason is the minute somoene shows a bit of promise (refer: Nas) they want to leave, and in sheer desperation to get them to stay you immediately make them the highest paid player in the AFL.

As I said. St Kilda - worst list in the AFL. Worst list mangement in the AFL. Worst president in the AFL. Personally, I don't mind Ross Lyon though even though I doubt he will ever win anything.
And Curnow?

Pies for mine, lucked their way into a prelim due to mac Andrew not getting the free he should have in the final 30 secs of the suns port game. About to fall off a monumental cliff, and the best thing is their supporters still think they are contenders :)
Tell us more about the Mac Andrew non free influencing the Qualifying Final result....

And then tell us your thoughts on the non free against Starcevich with 8 minutes to go in the Prelim...

Ahh yes, comparing a non decision made in the last 10secs of a game decided by less than a goal, to a decision made 8 mins out in a game decided by 29 points. Gotta love pies fans logic :)

Not sure why Collingwood has been raised. Granted I am on record as saying the last third of the season may well be reflective on what may play out next year. The win against the Crows was against a team who folded and were soft as butter. That win for mine was an aberration.

However, they did finish 4th and who the heck knows just yet how next year will play out for them.

They may well be in the mix by end of next year but it's a little early in my opinion to be death riding them.

West Coast and Tiges have a LOT of work to bring on their young kids. I tend to think the Tiges list will advance a lot quicker simply because the kids have a nice mix of veterans in the team trying to fast track their development. WCE have been impacted with their veterans largely retiring (for a mix of reasons).

North should be winning 10+ games next year but does anyone on here think they can do it? I can't trust them.

Melbourne will be an interesting watch. Gawn well into his 30's. At least Oliver is out of the team. They have introduced kids and have a decent haul this year. They also have mature players who can help in fast tracking the kids.

Essendon, I have no read on. Too many injuries this year to know what their kids are like. Let's hope they can keep them on the park next year.

You guys got a better deal for trac, but blues do have jags to come back and get dean for peanuts this year on top of a bunch of 1st round picks
We did but pinning your hopes on 2 kids that haven't played a game (or even been drafted) and Smith coming off a knee is a recipe for disaster.

Smith may be a gun but he's a kid who missed his first season because of a knee, give him some time to actually develop and play.

Not pinning any hopes anywhere but they do have a chance to start a solid rebuild …. For the 11th time

And Walsh next year. The picks haul they got wasn't great...it was ok at best. I suspect the Blues knew however that they were getting Dean and Jagga this year along with Walsh next year. Obviously they need to develop them (not a great track record in this regard). However as juniors they are highly rated.

If you don't appreciate the importance of momentum in football, you don't understand the game.
Cmon fadge even a one eyed biased pies fan like yourself doesn't think you were close to Brisbane that night, do you? 5 goal margin was a good effort by your mob in the end, lions are probably an 8 goal better team than the pies.

And they were missing half a dozen best 22 players + Added Allen and Draper while the Pies added nothing

West Coast as it feels like they need another 3 drafts even with Reid
Collingwood mature side with not much coming through the ranks with cap restraint
