They'll just bring in talent through FA. Life is pretty easy when you're Collingwood. They can even make the AFL bring opening round to Melbourne because of the 'unreasonable travel burden'.
Will they though?

We had Pies supporters lolling and getting up and about in Feb of 2025 because they were going to take their pick of Rowell, LDU and E.Richards at the end of the year, and look at how that played out.

They were the oldest list in the comp this year, and it's not something any player looking to land a flag wants to jump to, when they've got such little young talent coming through not named Nick Daicos.

Blues. List is in shambles with the cliff already here.

Pretty much no assets of value on their list anymore.

Going to be hard to secure FA's when Tassie comes in and has an extra 5 mil a season to tempt players their way.
Blues still remain a destination club who can attract big names.

Off season list changes will result in a very different side in 2026, a momentum swing will generate the kind of support only a big 4 club can bring

Being a historically big club does help somewhat, but it's no guarantee. Refer: Essendon.

No matter how big your membership figures could be, if you're not sorted out as an organisation, you'll miss on the difference makers. Playing in front of big crowds a couple of times a year is a nice drawcard, if you're winning them.

Who of note have the Blues attracted to the club in tecent years?

Appear to be a net feeder for other clubs.

Liam Reidy, doesn't get any bigger than that.

Well... Dan Houston wanted to come to the Blues, we just told him no thanks instead!
Did he really though?

Isn't that like me claiming Petracca wanted to come to the Crows...

I notice you didn't answer the question.

In recent years, Carlton have been a net provider of talent to other teams.... though granted SOS gets excited about recruiting players from his last club.

Have we? Up until this year we pretty much retained all of the talent we wanted to for close to a decade despite many clubs coming hard for some of our players.

The claim was the Blues are still a destination club.

The facts suggest otherwise.

He very likely did.
Unfortunately, the only club that could satisfy us in a trade is Gold Coast Handouts because they don't need high end draft picks to recruit young talent.

Good players choose their preferred destination... not clubs.
