Who is the most unique player in the AFL?

unique...unique like an overrated flash in the pan who cant take a mark over his head or kick straight?

Seriously, hatred for the hawks aside, most over rated player in the history of the game. Wouldnt even get a game if he was playing in the 80's/90's. Weak as piss.

That's a bit much. 75 goals a year over 7 years (still close to 70 goals a year if you would want to exclude 2008, which you wouldn't) and a big role in two premiership sides is worth something. Yeah, he's overrated by the media but you've gone way overboard.

Also it's barely even relevant whether he's a superstar - he's still a unique player. His strange kicking and poor overhead marking even contribute to his unique status.

Ablett Jnr for me, so quick, agile and smart in such small spaces, knows where the goals are and is so strong one on one. Unique as he has ALL the attributes we would be happy taking a guy in this years draft who excells in one or 2 of these. Ablett excells in all of the above...... amazing really nobody like him

Adam Goodes... How many tall ruckman type aboriginal players have you seen? Plus who win multiple brownlows at that.

Nic Naitanui... Fijian high leaping ruck.. Again quite unique.

from Geelong it's always been Stevie J.
I didn't know what to make of him until his break-out year in 2007, and even now he can still frustrate me like no other player.

He's not a particularly good mark for his height and he can't kick 50 meters, but somehow he's been Geelong's most reliable avenue in attack during their period of success.

Comes up with things like the snap set-shot, weird no-look handpasses (others have done it I know, but not quite like Johnson) and across-the-body bullet passes.

Unique is how I've always described him.

Way to out yourself as having no clue.

Unfortunately, the most unique player in the history of the game recently retired after 200 games.
He could suprise you at any time - by fainting on air, hitting a teammate in the face when he actually meant to high five them, kicking four points from easy shots in his swansong and celebrating one of them like it was a premiership win... and much more.
The champ retired, but his slow path to 200 games was watched carefully by many people, not the least of which was Anthony Rocca.

Paddy Ryder has a unique mix of size, athleticism, foot skills and marking ability.

If only he had more aggression at the ball because I don't think he fears contact just isn't the sort of bloke to make every ball his.

Probably said before but Hunt from the Suns. He is the only bloke currently in the AFL who has played in a world cup.

Didn't Pyke play in the World Cup unless it's a Rugby vs League difference???

Nahas IMO. Nick dalsanto will notice how unique he is when they line up together in the showers

North are all about balance in their list. 10 inches and 4 inches averages into an average 7 inches.

NicNat would be mine. Most of the others mentioned are just guns who do it consistently.

Jr is unique as a package in that no other player playing now excels in ALL of his strengths.

Stevie J..

Comes up with things like the snap set-shot.

Yeah, because Milne hasn't been doing the same thing since 1998!

Most unique player nowadays.. Nic Nat The Supreme Being.

Few years back.. Fraser Gehrig.

Those who mentioned Howe, also a good call.
