That was a pretty unique moment too. I'm guessing that Port the only AFL club in history to have a bloke with a dislocated kneecap kick a goal against them.

He is a weird one, He ultimately is a forward KPP who is excellent below his feet but has an average kick and not the body strength to hold himself to a 1 on 1 contest with defenders. While in the midfield he's coordination decision making and fitness make him pretty deadly.Nat Fyfe should also be up there - no other midfielder has such outstanding aerial ability and you wouldn't expect someone so lanky to be so good at getting contested ball.

I was talking more current day players, otherwise I would have used Barlett or Tuck. I'm pretty sure Fletcher is the only player to have played against both Fitzroy and GWS. It's also amazing considering how many players enter the competition each year some players are lucking to ever be in the system a couple years, he's been in it for twenty years.Craig Bradley has him covered.
1981-2002: Port Adelaide/Carlton/SA/Australia - 501 games of senior football, with 4 games of Shield cricket for two states for shits'n'giggs.
I could pick just one.
I'm not comparing the two. But in terms of feats, then high disposals is not something 'unique', and in fact Swan averages more disposals than Ablett both over his career and over the last few years.
Again, he's neck and neck with Swan, although I think Swan has pulled slightly ahead now.
In the last 3 years Dane swan has 78 goals, and Ablett 72 . . .
You said that Ablett's feats were unrepeatable in amassing disposals and goals, but it seems to me that this is clearly not the case, and in fact he's been trumped by Dane Swan.
Buckley and Swan at there best, is still a rung below Abletts best.
Buckley did what Ablett does while being heavily tagged, most weeks ablett gets free reign as a lot of coaches tend to try play off the guns these days (Buckley stupidly took it one step further and didn't man him at all).
Wot?
Half the sides in the AFL don't employ taggers wasn't until Buckley didn't even make any player pay any attention to him that for the rest pof the year he was tagged heavily and guess what his disposal count dropped.
So you're saying you'd have Ablett ahead of Dane Swan in terms of numbers?
One cannot have gradations of uniqueness; one either is or is not unique.

No one thinks like him.
