Who is under contract

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

I think Mattner, Stiffy and Thommo are in the first year of 2 year contracts. If I was Adelaide I would be getting pen to paper and extending their contracts to the end of 2008 asap.

At the end of the Glenelg / North Adelaide match, which I watched on ABC 2, they had an interview with Chris Ladhams.

After the usual "you well played" type questions the interviewer then asked Chris about his AFL future.

He looked slightly bemused and answered "Well I'm out of contract at the end of this year so I don't really know."

Matthew Clarke is also out of contract at the end of the year after signing a one year deal before the 2005 season.

out would be begley, massie, bode(?), Kruger, watts, schuback(?). Bit of dead wood to go there. Contracts were the excuse given last yr, so it will be good to see craigy swing the axe a bit. Btw, all the stars are contracted till next yr, triggy said earlier in the yr.

Not all of those, surely!

No i think they're all out, i origionally mis-read the thread. Someone posted all the names either on here or on asthecrowsfly, so they'll fill you in pretty soon. Generally though the stars are there till next yr and the dead stuff plus a few youngsters like watts are out of contract this yr.

Can tell you this WILL NOT HAPPEN

Weak draft - we will be conservative

last yr the ppl in the know said it was not the draft to rebuild in, so when exactly is that draft coming>? To me it seems like last yrs was ok. Every yr they say its weak or not flash so we should wait and see. 2001 was simply an exception, you have to bite the bullet eventually and take a chance. Btw they were simply a list of ppl off the top of my head that i thought would be out of contract and there is a little dead wood there for NC to have a look at.

The 2006 Draft is the one to rebuild from. Alot of top 16 year olds going around already.

Jack you are a clown. A couple of days ago you quite rightly pointed out that Fergus should be pushing for a place in our best 22, and now he's on your list of outs? The only way he'll be going anywhere is if he's homesick and we can work a decent trade for him.

So lets get a list going, so far we have

Contracted
Johncock
Mattner
Thompson

Out of contract
Ladhams
Watts
Begley
Massie
Bode
Krueger
Schuback

please add to the list if you are aware of the contract timings of others. Also if some of these are wrong, change them.

In my humble opinion and its not worth much I can only see the AFC delisting 5 or 6 players and possibly 1 trade.

Mathew Clark= Gone
Mark Stevens= Gone
James Begley= Gone (injuries concerns)
Mathew Smith (ability or lack of)

And the fifth delisting could one of many.

Chris Ladhams (out of contract and will be very lucky to escape the chop this year)
Kris Massie
Scott Stevens (very doubtful but also could be used in any WA team trade)
Mathew Bode (see Scott Stevens doubt he will be traded but)
Josh Kruger

The only players traded would be

Ian Perrie (if he asked to go home)
Fergus Watts (if he is after more opportunity and or home sick)
Jacob Schuback (possible trade)

I can see how you interpreted Jack's post that way but I saw it this way:
"out (of contract) would be begley, massie, bode(?), Kruger, watts, schuback(?). Bit of dead wood to go there."
Meaning some of those players are dead wood and will be out of contract. I don't think he meant sending all those players out the door. Going on some past comments I think Watts would be the only one Jack would keep.
Am I right Jack? Do I get a cookie? :p

Didn’t Ricciuto, McLeod, Edwards and Goodwin all sign 3 year deals at the end of 2003 (so 2004, 2005 and 2006)

Not one of these players has a trade value, including Schuie. If they did, you would get like for like.

The hi-lightered player you singled out in your post were being considered to be de-listed not traded. The only player I could see being traded would be Jacob Schuback and I would only ever consider his value to be a late 3rd round or early 4th round pick for Dennis Pagan or Michael Malthouse would consider a steal as his talent might be unknown to Melbourne clubs.

yes i'm out of cookies, but its good to see theres atleast a little bit of that common sense left around here. Obviously we'd be keeping watts he is our next star CHF after all. And i would keep kruger, schuback and bode on 1 yrs contracts. Bode as a depth player not much more, his disposal is average and it aint going to improve enough to become one of the quality midfilders we should be looking for with our looming retirements. Schuback needs a yr to pull his finger out and it would almost of been pointless to draft kruger if we delist him now. Its the mid-age junk thats had their chance that should go.

The Crows may delist more if they look to promote rookies.

I agree with your 4 goners - though AFC may keep Clarke as a backup - & I reckon you can add Ladhams & 1 of Bode/Schuback & Krueger/S Stevens. I reckon Massie is safe with Begley's likely retirement.

I'm going to start building a data base of contract details 'cos it's one question that keeps coming up - so if anyone has any additions to Crowked's list - or can shed any light on any others...please post.

Also as we hear news reports etc....post - so over time we can develop a complete list... :)

Sounds like a good idea MD.

Can I assume that our draftees like VB, Knights, Meese, Maric, and Gibbo were all given 2 year contracts ?

and can I assume that the previous batch were also given 2 year deals...and therefore should be in their final year of that deal ?

Contracted
Johncock
Mattner
Thompson
Meesen
Maric
Knights
Gibson
Van Berlo

Out of contract
Ladhams
Watts
Begley
Massie
Bode
Krueger
Schuback
M.Stevens
M.Clarke

O' oh, Ive just been informed (or hopefully misinformed) that one M.Smith has another year to run. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Please deny, please!

I definetly know for sure that Maggot Mattner is in 1st year of 2 year contract
