Admittedly not an original idea, but a question which is perfect for the polls board.

I named the teams that I think are most likely to reach the GF, with everyone else being "Other".

Geelong/Collingwood/WestCoast/Hawthorn/Carlton all have genuine claims i think.

I reckon (hoping) the Cats might slide a tad due to losing a few experienced players, if they have a good run with injurys they'll be right up there though, Carlton seem to be improving every year and this could be their breakout year, Freo's my smoky to be big improvers.

This could be the year when a flag gets well and truly "pinched" a la Adelaide 98/Hawthorn 08.

Geelong's age issues must surely surface soon.
How will Collingwood perform under Buckley and will the targetting of Swan and Pendlebury lead to their decline?
Carlton are over realiant on a handfull of players.
Hawthorn can beat anyone on their day, but still have depth issues. Will Roughead bounce back?
IMO, West Coast just don't have the required class.
Fremantle are going to take time to adjust to Lyon.
Other's including the expected up and comers in Melbourne, North and Richmond just aren't ready yet.

If I was going to have a bet I would put my money on Hawthorn, provided you gave me the money in the first place.

Fremantle. Lyon got the Saints to 3 straight GF's with one of the worst lists in the league. Fremantles list is far superior.

Hawks the other team.

Although it was bloody fun watching them lose this year. :D

Hawthorn.

Don't think Buckley will cope without Mick around, and Geelong to have another "gap year". Daylight to the rest.

Really hurts to say this but....Carlton will win it.
Teffy is right, I think the flag will be pinched and I just have a gut feeling Carlton will get it right in 2012.

I reckon we'll be right up there, probably top 2, not confident about winning the flag though, new coach, cooked game plan, players been up for a long time, not many high DPs recently etc etc, injurys will play a big part, as they do for any team i suppose.

regarding the Blues, a fit Judd could have thrown this year finals on it's head, as it turned out though he was pretty much a liability due to injury, they would have belted (well beaten anyway) WC at home if he was fit and they would've given the Cats a run in the prelim IMO.

Hawthorn. Looking at them vs Geelong who I think are the other contenders in terms of first 22 I see greater depth and pace, along with most of them having great kicking ability

Maybe Hawks, Geelong might not next but it doesn't matter, must try hard in 2013 so we can have a 07,09,11,13

The Cats have some talent from the 2008 and 2010 drafts to introduce, but I suspect Ling's defensive work will be missed. Ling shut down Swan and Mitchell in big games this year. You could argue that they haven't fully felt the loss of Ablett just yet. At times, we could do with Kennedy, so Ablett is a bigger loss.

I don't rate Hawthorn's backline with their Shane O'Sullivan specials down back.

Even Jamison could have got a hold of them after he was thrown forward against their undersized defenders.

They'll never win it while Ratten is coach.
No tactical nous when needed, and will be outcoached by Clarkson and others every time.
