We can't afford to pay him out but can afford the loss in membership revenue which will be more?
This is another point, once that happens benny and Peggy will come out with garbage about a war chest that we need, given they have squandered the last one on bonuses for making finals.

Please help us tigers supporters save " her" club, not " our" club

Does anyone think a payout tax of ~$20 per member a good idea? Of course it would be more for Coterie and premium memberships and less for kids and pensioners.

The reason I'm asking is that the biggest reason we still have Hardwick is that the cost of paying him out would be prohibitive. This is obvious to all including Caro and most media people. I've heard the question asked that if we hadn't extended his contract by two years, would he still be coach? The answer is always met by "obviously no".

Well, why do we still have to put up with him if money is the only reason? If we somehow could get the money for the club with minimal financial hurt factor to the individual, why wouldn't we do it?

Peoples thoughts please and a poll has been set up.
No, I already wasted $700 on memberships this year, Hilary and Benny and anyone else responsible for the ludicrous decision to extend him should pay from their own coffers out of sheer guilt.

In High School to make fun, take the piss, etc out of someone was also know as a "payout". That being said if their was a Tax every time you "payout" Hardwick. Well given my posting history I would have well and truly covered the cost by now.
Tax was known as Fraser in my time

I've spoken to challenging groups and they say they've been told the club can't afford it and that is why they have said they'd keep him on.
im calling bull cant afford it ? why not ? way cheaper than the expected loss of members or if we are broke what happened to zero debt ? the ftf ? major mismanagement if true all the more reason they should go but change for change sake is rarely a good thing. will watch with gr8 interest

I asked the same question...I couldn't believe they could not afford it. That's what I was told. Part of the problem is that revenue not derived from the supporter is very low compared to other clubs. Maybe the club told these guys porkies...

Its a good idea. For mine offer him a 1 year payout in full if he walks now. Failing that get the worst tiniest office in the joint, let the possums back in and stick him in their with a calculator and force him to do endless tax returns until he agrees to walk. Under no circumstances let him remain as senior coach. I wouldn't leave him in charge of setting up the witches hats to be honest.

I don't believe we can't afford it because we don't have the money, I think it's more because of the fact we have to carry the payout in the footy dept cap for the next 2 years, which means we either spend less on assistants recruiters and fitness staff or we pay more money into the equalisation fund which funds clubs like LOLNORF survive.

I have no interest in seeing the club do either thing, even if we get cash from the members it still goes in the cap. So just sit back and relax and see what happens with new assistants and hopefully a change in philosophy.

Great response. Forgot about the "equalisation" rules by the AFL. Of course it's ok for the Sydney, Giants and Gold Coast to get advantages in other areas like academies.:thumbsu:

If Dimma can turn this around a lot of people will be changing their tune.. I am sure many "I was wrong..." threads will be popping up
Mate, he's had 7 years to turn it around. Sure we made finals for 3 years in a row but have never looked like a consistent top 4 team. The other issue is he keeps on changing our game style, usually for the worse. How long should we give him? Ten, maybe 15 years? Some of us may not have that much time left in our lives.
