Why did the Crows go so tall?

Yes, the intelligent response would be to question that belief.

Yet for some reason every day you have a new post claiming that our club doesnt know how to build a list whilst port are preparing for their next dynasty, that every one of our players wants to leave, that our entire football operation is useless etc.

Glass half empty much?

Can you show me a list of my daily posts for say the last month where I have said Port will win a flag and we dont know how to rebuild. You made the statement now back it up. If you could put the results in a bar graph even better.

See how anal it is when certain boring pedantic BigFooty posters need to have every post put under the microscope and its legitimacy over analysed.

Why did the Crows go so tall? Because we dont have any KP forwards! Fairly simple!

When Walker was drafted, he was (at least) 190cm back then.

He kicked something like 54 goals in the SANFL this year as a 17 year old.

He'd be - what? - 193 cm, 194 cm by now? Apparently he has now really put on some muscle, as well.

Are you SURE the Crows don't have any KP forwards in the wings?

Walker hasn't played a game yet.

And while I think he will very likely come good a) he is human and there is always the possibility something goes wrong and b) you need talent and depth to win premierships. You can have Brendan Fevola up forward but as Carlton can attest he needs some help. We don't want to be too reliant on Walker, Sellar and Tippett coming good. People questioned why we took three ruckmen in the 04 drafts (incl. rookie draft). In hindsight I'm pretty happy we did because we might have a ruck imbalance now otherwise.

Finally we are in a situation where we are not chasing our tail on draft day, trying to compensate for previous years of neglect in certain positions. We had good list balance going into this draft which allowed us to go with the strength of the draft and just take the best players we could get our hands on.

Hyperbole. Are you saying you've never made that claim?

Yeah, how dare we make sure the more ridiculous claims are legitimate, wed be far better off making some foolish rant about how we're getting screwed when nothing has even happened yet. That would certainly be the intelligent response.

Why Talls ?
2009
Burton: unknown how his return will be !
Gill: 27 next year and high soft tissue injury rate !
Hentschel : will he ever recover...we all hope but footy is a business !
Sellar : make or break year, sad to say but year three and what has he shown !
Tippett : 2010 will decide if he stays or goes !

Leaves Moran,Stevens,Maric,Griffen Walker and ya smalls so with Davis, McKernan, Young and company surely back up and a rebuild of the forward structure with athletic talls that can run and kick and mark is waht the thinking is for 2010 !
Your opinions ?

I've joined this discussion late, but we've loaded up on talls, becuase the jury is out still on all the ones we have regarding AFL ability, and some their ability to make it thru the year. Also insurance agaisnt Griffin leaving end of 09 and Tippet end of 10. I believe they both will leave.

Tippett might, I doubt Griffin will be going anywhere. Time will tell.

Think there have been some good points re the uncertain futures of Hentschell, Gill, & Burton

Any talls now will take 3-4 years to get to speed ....if they do at all given success rates in drafts
That will also put Bock & Rutten at almost 30

Given future drafts will be compromsed getting good talls will be even more difficult .......those clubs that idiotically went will midfielders this draft (2-3 clubs) will struggle to get class talls in the future short-term.

I applaud the club for having the vision to stockpile talls .......we will most probably rookie a ruckman and use the rookie draft to "groom" some midfielders .....but they are also more easiliy obtainable in the drafting process than talls

At this stage it's only the 2009 & 2010 drafts which are compromised - and 2009 is only compromised in terms of depth. 2011 is still scheduled to have WS compromising it, but the odds on that are getting longer by the day as the AFL belatedly comes to terms with the apathy towards all things AFL in Western Sydney.

yes ...but it is comprimised .....and your assuming that West Sydney won't come in

Now if I was setting list management plans for the future I think you would have to assume that the 2nd side WILL come in ....to assume otherwise IMO would be foolhardy

What a thread.
So many posts quoting phantom posts. Double  :p

Seriously though, why shoot the messenger?
If TCT has heard something and he has passed it on, so what?
Accusing him of making it up or calling him a **** is hardly going to change what he heard is it?

I think WS will come in, or possibly a Tasmanian club in their place. However, I don't think that it will happen in time for the 2011 draft as currently scheduled.

So we need to blindly accept everything we hear over the internet?

Get out of it.

Craigy himself has said we're addressing a need with this draft which has been a problem area for a longtime;). In your last sentensce you should of highlighted any, walker might be a good prospect but its about not putting all the eggs into one basket which i'm sure you realise:rolleyes:.

You cant remember your last post?
That I do, but I am still not sure where you are coming from.

Blindly accept that he heard it? Yeah, why not?

Blindly accept that it's 100% true? Why? How would he know? Does it matter? Isn't that part of what these forums are for?

Whos questioning that he heard it?

I think the opposite has been the problem, people assuming that every rumour is factual and overreacting to these imagined problems.

Are these forums for the spreading of gossip and overreaction? Probably why some come here. I prefer the occasional in depth discussions you can get on strategy and football myself.

Accusing him or whoever told him of making it up is the same thing.

No, the overreaction only occurs when it's bad news.
Spreading "good gossip" doesn't get people called turds or other such names.
In depth discussions? How is that different to in depth rumour mongering, at the end of the day we're only arm chair experts.

More posters should relax, take a chill pill and enjoy the boards without getting personal whenever someone posts something you don't like.
