Why don't we have any real small forwards?

If you are going to be a successful low possession winning pressure forward in this day and age you have to provide elite pressure, have good skills and have the ability to impact the scoreboard.

At the moment Turner and Hrovat have neither of those things. Larkey and Wood would’ve provided more defensive pressure than the other two today.

Neither of those two would ever worry opposition coaches the way a Lindsay Thomas would have.

Turner is offering **** all at the moment. And it’s even more annoying when Bugg and campaigner kick 7 between them.

So this! So many wasted years giving this crab game after game.
You mean the only small forward, other than Boomer, we've had in the past decade who could kick a bag of goals? I know LT was frustrating at times but he's a class above his replacements.

We had one, Kieran Harper. This guy could run, tackle, KICK and actually create movement. But the ongoing curse with potentially good players that come to North killed this bloke's career. Injuries, ongoing mental niggles and lacklustre VFL performance ultimately was too much for the club to take in. Delisted 2015. Gone.

The highlights package is what was missing today. Confidence, composure and the will to run and hit 20m passes. Harper is an example of what our forwards are missing.

Harper in the Carlton and Richmond game, wow. If we had that sort of talent today, we would be laughing about a 18th win against Melbourne.

But we are here. :(

Turner is not up to it at the moment. Hrovat looks lost and not hard enough. Garner and possibly Zurhaar could be the answer. Is this a position Tarryn Thomas could possibly fill if/when he comes on board?

Our team/structure seems outdated. It seems a lot of teams these days have small forwards that have a mix of offensive and defensive attributes, as well as quick and/or skillful midfielders with at least 1 or 2 of them racking up 27 + touches on a consistent basis.

We have been a very slow, tall, "hard at it" low disposal team with mediocre skills for a long time now..

Would you say about 10 years......

I actually thought nahas was crucial to some of our success from 14-16. He was always up for goals and would impact a hell of a lot more contests than the 2 we have now. He and Lindsay actually formed a solid partnership, and at times provided more in terms of goals then drew did.

To summarise our midfield is completely shithouse and we can’t do anything about it to the trade/draft period.

Everybody should have already known this.

Nah, it's Turner & Hrovats fault.

Do we try Wright off a Half Forward Flank for Hrovat?

I suspect he will go in to the backline and L-Mac/J-Mac will push up the field.

In fairness though their pressure when they were involved yesterday was for the tip. I don't mind a small forward or half forward not getting much of the pill as long as they have a dip but it didn't seem like they did yesterday. Anderson on the other hand smacked in.

Yesterday was terrible but the first two rounds were just as bad.

I agree, you can have a small forward that doesn’t get much of the pill but you can’t have multiples not getting the pill.

And that's why its a schmooz yesterday.

All that is required is Benny Hill music to acompany it.

Expect flat track bullies next week.

Thread dies.

Play Hawks, PA, and Swans.

Ouch...ouch...ouch.

You would hope our match committee are thinking along the same lines

What can they do about it?

We don't have the midfielders in reserve and the blokes currently playing there are comfortably in our best 22.

We just have to ride this out.

So EVW goes out?
No . Hrovat . Turner maybe LDU and 1 more . Need to ring changes . Tarrant back in then Larkey Ahern gets a run , Morgan , Narrier .
