It's not about naming denominations. It's about understanding. It's about common sense. Read a couple of propaganda pieces connecting some anecdotes and you actually think you've got more knowledge about problems in the Islamic community than Islamic leaders have. It's mindboggling.

Im certainly not against immigration but the trend of taking huge numbers and plonking them in countries and telling everyone "Get along" isn't working. This is making it far more hostile and allowing for extreme right wing groups to garner support.

What culture do immigrants come from?

Many hear migrant and the image is of a refugee country and the image being pushed at the moment is a refugee from an Islamic country.

They then look at overall immigration data and this view still holds - as seen by you trying to use net immigration as part of an argument regarding Islam.

The reality however is the UK takes in a lot more immigrants from Catholic countries like Ireland, Poland and Romania than they do from Islamic countries. And it's not so long ago that Catholics were the discriminated against other.

In Australia, it's a very small percentage of our immigration intake that comes from the Islamic world. Malaysia is the only majority Islamic country in the top 10 of our foreign born residents. And it's a tiny percentage of our Malaysian migrants that are Islamic - with Chinese and Indian Malaysians dominating that cohort.

In the history of white Australia, there has always been an other that were the target of discrimination and were seen as a massive cultural threat. Obviously began with Aboriginals. Then later Irish Catholics. All those we called wogs. Vietnamese. Chinese. The latest target is Muslims. If it wasn't for the Afghani refugee intake, we'd probably still be targetting the small number of Catholics with Sudanese heritage in Australia as the big threat to our culture. And many still do target them.

The constant is some targetting a cultural grouping in Australia and depicting them as a massive threat to society. And what a diverse group of cultures fall into the category of Islamic. It's the most ridiculous target yet. Akin to viewing North America, South America, Europe, big sections of Africa, Phillipines, etc as one cultural bloc - due to Christianity.

Then tell me what I'm supposed to conclude from the repetitive posting of scattered crimes from Europe, Brittain, America or Australia. What is the point of it? Why are you doing it?

What is your argument, expressed as openly as you can say it?

To be as clear as possible, I'm not asking you what you want: you want to lower immigration. That's relatively obvious. I want to know why you're arguing in favour of that in the Islam thread, using crimes committed by muslims to do it.

I don't think it is obvious that they want to lower immigration. They just spoke about negative net immigration in Sweden as an issue, implying that Islamic immigration has caused an issue in terms of lowering Sweden's population.

I'd be very careful on mass immigration Sweden style form Muslim countries. We are seeing unrest in many countries in Europe from this... Germany, UK, Sweden etc.

Take a look at the UK... Clearly been unsuccessful with many of the current population unhappy. Reform UK has a genuine chance of winning the next election that says enough about the current harmony and position of a large chunk of their population. That's like One Nation winning in Australia.

So - just to clarify - you don't want muslims in Australia because it emboldens the far right and/or gives them a rhetorical win?

That's dumb. That's twisting yourself into a pretzel in search of a justification. It's also not really a clear answer.

Western and Middle Eastern culture is quite far apart so you’d imagine that has a factor in the unrest with larger immigration numbers.
