Reminder: This isn't the Israel/Hamas thread. Go to the Israel/Hamas thread if you want to talk about that. Thanks.

Thread rules update:
From this point if you're going to make a connection between Islam and the crime rate, you need to demonstrate causation in your post. If you do not, I'm going to infract you for the inherent racism in the position you're taking.

Well, an estimated 20% of the worldwide Islamic population is alleged to hold extremist views and be radicalised.

So tell me this: Is 20% of a particular group an acceptable amount of people to be considered a threat?

You appear oblivious to the fact, or unable to accept it, that the majority of Muslims aren't interested in integrating into Western society.

During my uni days 20 years ago, I used to think like you. Then I ended up doing a study on Islamic extremism during an Asian studies course, which was a real eye-opener.

I'm not saying there aren't Muslims who share some western values but the majority of what values we have in the West are incompatible with Islam as a whole.

The multi-generational Australian Muslims would understandably be more inclined to share western values, provided they went to a public school and didn't have a religious education(depending on the ethos of the school, obviously). Ones that emigrate from countries where they are indoctrinated early, maybe not so much.

Plenty of examples in Europe to see what letting a religiously indoctrinated group enter your country in massive numbers, without being filtered, can do.

The simple fact is, whether you're willing to acknowledge it or not, many of the freedoms we currently enjoy in the West would cease to exist if Australia was a Muslim country.

Like anyone coming here, they're welcome to practise your religion in private but please, keep it that way...
People don't realise it's not just an existential threat to Jews and Israel, but to the West as a whole. And we turn the other cheek...

Mate if the Palestinian’s were fair dinkum they would be protesting on the real problem , I’ve haven’t seen one protest that’s advocating for the removal of Hamas all you need to know really, they are actually endorsing Hamas.
They are too scared not to. Don't want to be shot. Or hung in public like two young men were a few weeks ago for "collaborating".

Have you seen the number of people who would wipe Islam from the face of the Earth if given the chance?

Who think women should be second class citizens?

Accelerationists, cookers, weirdos. They exist everywhere.

"The west" isn't some shining beacon of purity. Extremism is here already. Australia has a long history of it. Starting when Europeans invaded.

You're describing Islam.

For the record, I'm not a fan of any group that would do such a thing but for some reason you're a 'bigot' if you criticise Islam, yet perfectly fine if you do the same for any of the other groups.

I've not once suggested the West is some 'beacon' of purity but given the choice, it's far better than many other alternatives.

Why are many people from non-Western so desperate to move to them, for instance?

This is how some people feel, but look at what they say. Who has the power.

"Islam" isn't one thing. Wahhabism isn't the same thing as Islam in, say, the Balkans.

Your bigotry comes from generalising.

Yes, they have massive problems also and it's only getting worse.
America will come to regret what they’re doing with immigration. Just like Europe has. Imagine if we didn’t have huge treacherous seas surrounding our country.

Of course they do. But eradication of Hamas is the only way.
Except Hamas are in Lebanon and the West Bank as well as Gaza and are an idea not just a bunch of leaders, but hey they're going to eradicate it by killing a few Hamas leaders in Gaza and thousands of Gazans in the process ...

Hamas are not an idea. They are a political party.

Here we go.

Hamas are a creation of Israel.

In the 90's Israel knew they had a problem with their constant persecution of Palestinians. Palestine has no standing army, no defence force, no real police to speak of that can be used to defend the people of Palestine from aggressive outside factors. Israel knew that if they went in and wiped out a totally defenseless people, they would lose all credibility worldwide. So Bibi created Hamas. Israel (and Qatar) channeled millions into Hamas to allow them to become a minor armed power. Minor is all they are. a bunch of AK's, some home made rockets and some plucky fighters were never going to threaten Israel. But they were a focal point for Israel's aggression, and when October 7th kicked off, Israel could say they were not committing genocide, but removing terrorists.

Think of how the media portray Hamas and compare them to other Muslim groups such as Hezbollah and the Houthi rebels. Whenever the media mention them both, they always say "Iranian-backed Hezbollah/Houthi". With Hamas, its just "the terrorist organisation Hamas". Who funds them? Sure as hell its not the destitute people in Gaza who cant afford food half the time.

Classic case of right wing authoritarians making anything they touch far worse than it otherwise would have been.
depends on how you define 'worse'

Not worse for them, they get their agenda done even though its taken nearly 80 years

Worse for the rest of us, especially the Palestinian people
