I am referring to the lands of the old Roman Empire - parts of Europe, all of North Africa, Egypt, Syria and Asia Minor - which were Christian centuries before Islam arrived.

I sense many people in this thread have a poor grasp of history - they would do well to read the many books on this matter.

You could do a lot worse to start by familiarizing yourself with the Arab invasion of Roman Syria in 634 - a territory that at the time encompassed modern-day Israel, Jordan and Palestine territories. This was a profoundly Christian area.

This was a successful raid - with the Arabs slaughtering and pillaging as they went. With these successes, many more eager volunteers swarmed into Syria unabated from Arabia - including the notorious Khalid bin al-Walid.

Now off you go and study.
