Dan24, if your thinking is correct then you would presume that at some stage over the last 30 years Melbourne would have had more members then the Kangaroos/North Melbourne, the late eighties would possibly be your only chance to justify your argument, it is the only time when Melbourne had a sustained (a couple of years) onfield advantage over the Kangaroos, this was when the Roos were rebuilding for the nineties.
Dan24, I understand what you are saying but Melbourne have to be successful to get the advantage of this support base. Can you honestly tell me, you would bank on Melbourne having a prolonged period of onfield excellence, they haven't for the last 35 years, will it change now? I don't think so.
