Dan24, if your thinking is correct then you would presume that at some stage over the last 30 years Melbourne would have had more members then the Kangaroos/North Melbourne, the late eighties would possibly be your only chance to justify your argument, it is the only time when Melbourne had a sustained (a couple of years) onfield advantage over the Kangaroos, this was when the Roos were rebuilding for the nineties.

Dan24, I understand what you are saying but Melbourne have to be successful to get the advantage of this support base. Can you honestly tell me, you would bank on Melbourne having a prolonged period of onfield excellence, they haven't for the last 35 years, will it change now? I don't think so.

The Western bulldogs easily have the lowest support base Australia wide. Melbourne is next with only 120,000 supporters Australia wide. The Kangaroos have more than 200,000 supporters Australia wide with 100,000 of those in the metropolitan area.

I suppose North Melbourne's success has happened in the modern era, where TV has made an impact, giving the Roos more supporters outside Melboure they they might have ordinarily expected.

Melbourne's golden era took place without the aid of television, limiting their Australia wide appeal.

No doubt, though that the Kangaroos have the least support IN MELBOURNE of the Victorian based clubs.

Dan24 get it right boy, before Dennis left and came home the Roos had a membership of around 3500, and I was one of them.

Why quote stuff you obviously have no idea about.

Dan24 I think you are just another tall poppy killer. Jealous of Norths recent era.

you may say "HOW DARE THOSE KANGAROOS BE SUCCESSFUL, DON'T THEY KNOW THEIR PLACE." we do Dan24 and we have been their for the best part of the last 27 years.
