As it stands now, with Gold Coast having the first five picks in the Rookie draft we would be around pick 15. With the Tigers and the Bombers stating that they will pick youth with their picks in the PSD, this means that about 17 youngsters will already be taken before we have a pick. What I'm suggesting is that we delist a player, enter the PSD where we will have pick 7. With Freo, Melb and Syd committed to older players, this would mean we get to pick the 3rd highest rated junior available. We all know that clubs rate juniors differently, but surely it would be in our best interest to go down this path. As for the player we delist, we can always pick them back up with our last rookie pick.( My preference would be Johnson) Not sure if there would be financial ramifications doing this, but it has been reported several times that we have money spare. Just an opinion that I think we should explore. Any opportunity we get to strengthen our list should be looked at.
