Will Essendon win the Flag ?

If we can do something totally unprecedented for Essendon, that might do it. Like beating Melbourne. Or winning at Subiaco.

If we can win at Subiaco, then...

Look out, man!

Don't be silly Subiaco is like our kryptonite.

It's never gonna happen. Also in regards to Essendon we haven't really proven anything yet so the fall on here will be even more dramatic....

Disagree, to me they have shown continual improvement on top of last years rise. Its not like they are relying heavily on one or two or being carried by old farts the improvement is in the mid aged guys nearing their peak.

Forget win/loss which right now is impressive, they have addressed the key weak areas, mainly defence and they have built up their strength.

Maybe we are seeing a blessing of the injuries Essendon always have, in that they have games into a lot of their list now they might not of got otherwise.

I think its unlikely they will suddenly start losing in massive clumps, so barring that miracle this year will at least be an improvement on 8th and we are seeing a bloody good side emerging.

Anyone who has not had the fact they are good proven to them has their head in the sand.

I hate them, I wish it was a false dawn, but look at the quality they have beaten and the way they have performed its excellent.

Will they win the flag? who the hell knows who will yet to be honest, but if James Hird isnt one day a premiership coach at Essendon then something bloody amazing must of happened

The Good: Our current depth looks as good as anyone's. With Hurley set to play, I can see Pears and Myers forced to work their way back via the VFL. Carlisle stays.

The Bad: The Pies match showed gun midfields can still grab a hold of us, and that's without Ball. That's the achilles heel, unless guys like Melksham can take the next step.

It is way to early to be installing anyone as "flag favorites" just yet. Essendon's victory over the Eagles was full of merit, but lets wait a few more weeks before we install ANYONE as "flag favorites" !

You must be unfamiliar with the mighty art of pumping up a side you don't like so it's vindication when you're right and greater entertainment when you're "wrong".

Bannister holds the key to this question, a fit and firing Bannister is worth at least 5 goals.

Are you seriously stupid enough to elude that because we SACKED him early in his career that he holds a soft spot for us and puts his umpiring job under threat because of it?

Are you actually that thick?

Not a chance - Richmond exposed their lack of ticker tonight.
They won by default against a middle of the road team.
Played great in the first half - but where were they in the second
They won't get away with that against better teams than the Tiges.
And I can't stand their cockysuckying supporters - they deserve lots of pain lol

Essendon have been playing like it's an elimination final every week, you can't sustain that kind of intensity for a whole season. We couldnt last year and we were a 10-15 goal better side than Essendon is now. Their onballers are honest but have no class; will get owned in finals by at least 4-5 sides who are clearly more talented.

I don't think we'll win the flag, but we've played pretty well against the pies, eagles, and blues. Not sure our ticker is that poor.

definitely looks like these guys are gonna top the ladder. can't believe how bad geelong are right now.....

If we lacked ticker we would have laid down once we lost the lead, instead of skipping away to victory.
Really just exposed a complacency we tend to get when well up and showed the clearance ability of Richmond's young stars.

Fletcher would have to be the most vital player for Essendon. As soon as he was off Richmond seemingly lifted tonight and just missed out.

If Essendon can replicate the first half form tonight and play entire games like that, then they are every chance of winning the premiership.
