Will James McDonald Get Back To His Best

Interested in your opinion about James McDonald getting back to his best.

Personally think having a break will have done him some good. He looks impressive in the NAB Cup so far.

From memory at his peak he made the AA squad of 40 didn't he? All due respect to the guy because he is definitely worthy of a best 22 spot, but he has little to no chance of getting back to his best.

The guy's 35 its pretty unlikely. He's there to help buffer the kids from taking too much on too early and he will play that role OK.

To get back to his best he would have be AA as he was in 2006, so obviously that is not going to happen.

In saying that though, I have no time for GWS as a franchise, but I genuinely hope Junior has a good season and goes out on his own terms. Received rubbish treatment at the end of his Melbourne career.

Highly unlikely given his age and not playing senior footy for one year. He will be servicable though, as displayed in Round 1 of the NAB cup.

At 35 with a year out of the game, he won't get anywhere near his best which is or was AA standard, but he will play a important role in mentoring the young kids at a new franchise.
