It looked to me like Langers spent a lot of time on the HBF last night.

Just wonder whether they expect he might get tagged at some stage this year and they are looking to make him more versatile to help break the likely upcoming tag.

With guys like Silk, Mitch and Lord Hodge rotating through there, as well as Birch... in the history of the game is there a better set of teachers for a guy learning to play in a position at AFL level?

Would miss him up forward. Has "Goal sense". But mids are meant to these days. Burgers and Hodge play everywhere I spose

If he's struggling with being tagged then I suspect the best role he could then play would be to tag another player himself. Effectively taking out two opposition players and freeing up one of ours.

If he promises to kick more goals like he did in the GF then I wouldn't mind seeing him go forward.

Haha, I posted virtually the same thing on a thread yesterday!

It's elementary Dear Watson.

I'd enjoy seeing that, hopefully he'd jump straight on the opposition midfield gun and the 3 of them could run round together for a bit!

Langers does look stronger and meaner than last season. He's got that icy-cold stare about him... could be a scary customer!

I'm ignoring most structural moves from game 1. I don't think McEvoy will spend a lot of time at full forward leading out of the square and I don't think Gunston will be spending much of his time behind the ball. I would agree with a few others here that Langers best way to break a tag would be to go and tag himself. I think the Pies game was mostly seeing what Hartung, Anderson, Woody, Lithers and a few others to see who is going to put their hand up in 2015. The other role Langers could play would be defensive forward, we saw his goal sense at the back end of 2014!!

Teams that play Hawthorn still need to make tagging Mitchell their priority. Smith and Hill also need to be tagged. Depending on the game, Hodge might also need to be tagged, as do a few others from time to time. If it gets to the point where Langford is also being tagged week in and week out, It will be like playing Fremantle every round.

No team would be silly enough to try and tag that many players. No team has that many players who could effectively tag those players and still offer something going the other way.

The idea behind tagging a player like Mitchell is that you're quelling the influence of that player at the expense of the game of one of your own players. Once you start tagging multiple players in the midfield you may have slowed the opposition down but you've completely robbed your own midfield of any drive.

I think teams will still aim to place a traditional tag on the likes of Smith or Hill as their run and carry is devastating when left unchecked. Mitchell I daresay is "untaggable" given his footy IQ and his flexibility to still play damaging roles outside the midfield. Teams will probably lean towards playing one of their best contested players on him and let them go head to head - essentially preventing him from getting the ball by winning it first rather than blocking him.

From personal experience, I believe he is attempting to grow his hair long. There is a fairly lengthy period, especially if your hair grows slowly, where it looks terrible.
Better not be aiming to put it in one of those terrible knots...

I loved the flowing blonde locks as he streamed downfield to kick a goal in the Grand Final!

Not sure if I could take the ponytail look though ...

Langford was played back at BH earlier in his career for a period, I'm pretty sure part of the reason was to limit his injuries while his body developed as he knows no other way in the middle, the other obviously to build his defensive game, so not the first time he has played back

If they are going to tag Langford keep him in the middle full time. He can play the decoy role while Mitchell, Hodge, Hill, Burgoyne and co go berserk
