having had a look through the predicted ladders, i've noticed that the majority of people have north #16, which on the face of things after last year may not seem like such a surprise...

however i'm wondering, are people saying so because they know anything about the list? or simply because there are less kanga 'nuff nuffs' to dispute it than other clubs possess.

i seem to remember everyone picking north to miss the 8 before each preseason back in the late 90's as well.

Do people actually believe that north has the worst list this year?

I've pencilled in North Melbourne, Richmond, Collingwood and Essendon as solid bottom 4 contenders in 2007. :)
The Tiges should have beaten the Full sided Melbourne on Saturday, there isn't anyway that we will finish in the bottom 4.

Carlton will be there instead of the Tiges, you absolute muppet!!!

who knows, you would have to say their a contender with several other teams. i think their is good reason to be optimistic it won't be the Blues, but they are a contender.

Kangaroos play with too much heart to finish last. They may not have the best list but when their tails are up they can be hard to stop.

Carlton are the best bet for the spoon and with good reason - their last 5 seasons have been worse than Fitzroys last 5 seasons. (24 wins to 27 wins)
That's a woeful foundation for the Blues to stand on and IMO wont propel forward anytime soon. I'm not sold on pre-season cup form, all it has shown is how much they depend on one player.

I remember in 2002 the eagles were like unbackable favourites for the spoon. Even Freo had better chances. But with the injection of a new coach and the kids standing up, oh ok and the drafting of that judd kid, we made the finals.

I really rate the north kids. IMO they are top 8 in youngsters (against the majority i know but i doubt many of you have seen many of them play) and can really lift. Laidleys a good coach too but sadly you need to be outstanding to cut it in the afl.

9-12 for me.

After seeing their gun young talent play on Saturday night, the Roos might win more than one spoon since it's going to get ugly when Grant, Archer, Simpson, Thompson and Harvey give the game away. Laidley's trading has left North exposed as Carlton's trading for experienced players and the interest on that didn't bite till well after we won our first spoon.

Wells, Jessie Smith and Hansen are the only standout juniors at Arden St when they should have Hansen, Smith, Wells, Bailey, Birchall and maybe Jordan Lewis.

Bleak. :(

Did you see the Roos lose the match after they were 37 points up?

Fat lot of good it did them and the shinboner spirit is dead after that game.

A bit like the Eagles being dependent on Judd to kick goals and make them better a side than the Dockers, Saints and Swans who have more firepower up forward. Take Judd out of the Eagles best 22 and they wouldn't even come close to beating those sides away.

And I think you were referring to North instead of Carlton when making the comparison to Fitzroy. ;)
