HODGE, HADDIN, JOHNSON, S CLARK.

ponting has picked his 11 he wants, and it doesn't seem that it'll be tinkered with throughout this tournament.

providing we beat the west indies (day 2) we will only need to win 2 (maybe 3) of the remaining 5 games to progress to the semi's. (BANG, ENG, IRE, SL, NZ).

will gilly or mcgrath get a rest against bangladesh or ireland?

or are the 4 reserves destined to sit out the tournament unless an injury occurs?

I think your point about resting either Gilly or McGrath is valid. Going forward the schedule tightens up (thank goodness for that).

They will be careful though about messing with a winning team. But a game off each shouldn't cause any problems.

More importantly, when was the last time Johnson, Clark or Haddin had a competitive game of cricket- not talking a Mickey Mouse warm up match, but an actual match? Would be good to give each a game in the Super Eights, once the semis are assured. Mcgrath and Gilly the likely ones to go- might also rest bracken- and for the bats, maybe Hussey could use a bit of extra time in the nets instead of a match.

But I think the XI has been selected to win or lose the tournament- you won't see any changes, apart from rests, unless there is an injury.

I heard we only needed to win 2 out of the 6 to progress so if we beat the Windies, then they can afford to rest players

The Bangers and the irish seem the most logical game to rest players. Even with a second string team you would imagine we should beat Ireland, although the Bangers have proven themselves to be fiesty thus far and might pose a challenge.

I say rest em against England and Ireland. Ireland shouldn't be a contest and England will just collapse under the pressure we put on them to perform when we brazenly leave out key players. Bangladesh could be a surprise packet; England would give us a better game against a full strength team.

no need to.

I think Australia play again on Saturday then have like a 9 day break or something.

the only possible game would be the Ireland one, whenver that is. but if Gilchrist hasn't found some solid form by that stage, then he has to play and McGrath may want to play every game possible in his goodbye to international cricket.

Staurt Clark and Haddin will get a go, and Hodgey will come in for 2 more games IMO..

Mitchell Johnson should be kept well away from the team..

Stupid to change the team now, we did it during the CB series to figure out our best team, but now that we know what it is there is no point in flirting with our form. Only change to consider would be putting Hussey up the order a bit to get him some time at the middle.

How many more failures has Symonds got with the bat, given that he is not bowling much and when he does he's getting smashed.

I reckon he will come under scrutiny after 2 more failures given Hodge is in good form.

That is a stupid statement do you know anything about cricket?

Symonds will never be droped from the one day side, he won us the last world cup and has basically had just two matches back from injury. He got a wicket the other night as well

Hodge will not play again this world cup get over it

the starting 11 from here on in seems set now watson is fit.

it'll be interesting to see the line up of the side after this tournament though. hogg and hayden are in fine form but may choose to retire in the odi game.

gilly, well who knows...with a hectic 20 odd tests over the next year he may well finish up as well as haddin is ready.

ponting, m clarke, symonds and hussey seems set in the middle order..so its more our openers and bowling lne ups.
