With the like of
FB: Carrazzo Thorton Austin
HB: Scotland Waite Walker

And then in this years draft we will prob get a young KPP defender.
So where to for Sentata.
like to hear your thoughts.
I do know he loves to put on the Navy Blue jumper.
when he went headtohead with Big J Brown.
he loves it.

First of all that back line doesn't look much like what our backline will look like next year and excludes some of our better defenders. This is more what our backline will look like:
FB: Carazzo Jamison O'Hailpin/Austin
HB: Scotland/Grigg Thornton/Waite Bower
Setanta was playing good football before his injury. It is up to him to get a spot. Has shown he is good enough but would have to put on a bit more size and have a bit more development.

Re: Will we need Sentata next year?

Dont you think Grigg may start playing on a wing?

Ideally I see Stevens and Simpson on the wing with players like Scotland Grigg Browne Bower Waite pushing through defence and the wings. Walker is not a defender and shouldnt be playing a negating role. Same with Houlihan. A lot of rotation will be occurring I think depending on match ups.

they wouldnt have sent him all the way to germany for the sake of it.
he is obviously a required player. and also that backline of yours is hilarious- wheres jamison and bower!!!!!!

i think setanta is part of the back 6- the only guy who can stop the guerillas and the resting ruckmen.

i'd hope the back six would look something like this:

o'hAilpin Jamison Carazzo
Thornton Bower Scotland

and I'd put Waite in the fwd line and sometimes use him as a loose man in defense.

this is what the lineup should be:

B:o'hAilpin Jamison Carazzo
HB:Thornton Bower Scotland
C:Stevens Gibbs Simpson
HF:Fisher Waite Walker
FF:Kreuzer Fevola Betts
R: White/Brogan/Warnock/ Hampson Murphy Judd
I/C from: Hadley, Grigg, Austin, Armfield, Houlihan, Bentick, Wiggins

Unlucky ones: Browne, Cloke (don't see him as a good ruckmen unfortunately),Bannister

Re: Will we need Sentata next year?

You left Jammo and Bower off your list
Anyway here is your answer
Height: 199cm
Weight: 96kg

Re: Will we need Sentata next year?

This is how I see our back six lining up @ round one:

FB: Armfield Jamison Carrazzo
HB: Bower Waite Grigg

Wouldn't mind betting we might just look at shopping Thornton around at years end, and this leaves Austin and O'Hailpin to come into that back six when needed. O'Hailpin would be perfect for the likes of Brown, Hale and Q.Lynch - the bigger bodied players.

Whatever way you cut it, we really do have some options down there.

But Waite rarely takes a man so who is your actual CHB

Re: Will we need Sentata next year?

I'd like to think that Setanta will be only a depth player as of next year.

Let's face reality for a second - Setanta is average at best. He has a huge heart and loves representing the Navy Blue, that much is clear. But as we get better each and every year it's going to be harder to carry these sorts of players.

Setanta will stay on the list as a back up defender that will be on the cusp of senior selection.

FWIW, round 1 I'd like to see:

B: Thornton Jamison Carrazzo
HB: Bower Waite Grigg

We'll have Aussie pushing for a spot on the bench as early as round 1, and smaller defenders like Armfield, Browne, Scotland all rotating through.

We've got a young developing defense that has the potential to take us a fair way. And to be honest, I just don't see Setanta as an integral part of it in the long term.

He was going great guns this year - disposal had improved out of sight - has one ordinary game - dropped/no match up
AND then everybody writes him off

Don't you guys agree that Waite does not play CHB - Ratts does not like him to have an opponent

Sorry champ,
Jamison is here, Austin on the way, Bower is coming,
Waite can earn his cheapies

Will go 3 for 3,
Hartlett, and the 2 Irish.

Re: Will we need Sentata next year?

Setanta for the gorillas, leaving SoV to roam at half-back. If there's no gorilla, park him at Preston for the week. Jammo, Thornton, Bannister and Bower can take the rest with one of the running smalls to pick up the goal sneaks.

Re: Will we need Sentata next year?

We are talking next year - your boys will have to take a lot of roids

Sorry,
Hartlett, the Eamons (OYB).- gone.

Hamish' brother is a pain in the arse,
but will be openley welcomed with open arms,
at the place,
where the princes roll their numbers.

And he knows who we are.

Re: Will we need Sentata next year?

Setanta's probably the only player on our list who's suited to the gorilla forwards - we might be lucky and snare Hurley, but even then he'd take a year or two before being to compete against the bigger bodied players at AFL level.

Wouldn't play him every game, but when the match up is there, he's still a valuable member in our 22. Would have matched up well against Moran, White and Hale in recent weeks.

FB: Browne/Thornton Setanta Jamison

BrowneArmy, Grigg, Thornton depending on matchups......

Walker to play mid and forward.
Carrazzo to be challenged for his spot by Army/Browne and may have to battle in the midfield.:thumbsu:

Setanta is our only defender capable of taking the gorillas. If we had him last week, Hale would have been no where near as effective.

Needed player without a doubt in my mind.

He is a required player...

We need him against tall forwards and rucks pushing up the ground as was evident last wk against North...

We have put to much time and effort into the big irishman, he has alot of value to us especially over the next two years as young players develop.
