Let's see if the girls can regain a bit of cricketing dignity for us.

They are currently midway through their Ashes series against the Poms, having played three ODI's to date, with the sole Test starting last night and three T20Is to come.

They lead 4-2 on the points system being used. The Test is worth 4 points, and the T20Is 2 points each.

End of day 2 and the girls are currently doing very well.

Sadly Jess Jonassen did an "Arthur Chipperfield" and we declared on 9-274.

In response the Poms batted all day to be bowled out for 168 (Brunt 39, Scriver 35, Edwards 30, Schutt 4-26, Perry 3-38, Coyte 2-30).

So two days to go and we hold a lead of 106. Go girls!!

Alicia Healy is a poor keeper. I'd say she's chosen because she's very useful with the bat. She has poor glovework. I've watched most of the Ashes and she drops the ball a lot. Doesn't have to be a difficult take either.

Just muffed an easy run-out chance. It's like watching Wade on a bad day.

Not much bounce in the wicket but she still got Brunt out hooking.

Not sure she hit it, ump got sucked in, I'd say. But Perry is bowling like a trooper.

Perry's third wicket was a bouncer, which Greenway ducked under, and was bowled. :p
I was listening to the radio commentary. They couldn't believe it. :p

So, Day 1. 97 overs were bowled. What the **** are the men doing that takes so long they bowl so much slower than the women? That's just utterly embarrassing for mens cricket.

Slow run rates, shorter run ups, the ball not travelling as far. A lot of reasons, and I'm happy to sacrifice over rates to accommodate a better style of play. England in particular batted very, very slowly during the Test.

Much shorter run-ups for most bowlers. But the skipper does not need to have a round-table conference after each ball either.

I have watched a fair bit of the games so far. Sky are showing them. Meg Lanning looks like a very calm character and she is an excellent fielder. An athlete like Perry.

Not all of them are great athletes. Probably girls who are get drawn to other sports.
