Wonder why Lemanis has abandoned that Spurs play that sets Broekhoff up in the weakside corner. They used it quite a bit to great success in the warm up games, but only once so far in the World Cup.

Looks like a quarter final match up against the yanks.

Should beat Angola and finish 2nd with a 4 and 1 record.

Hopefully Lithuania can upsetSlovenia and we can finish top and avoid the yanks.

We'd still finish 2nd on tie break because we lost to Slovenia

How impressive was Broekhoff in that 3rd quarter? To bounce back after a 0-5 half shows a lot of character.

Stand your ground dude exum may well be the reincarnation of Kobe in a couple of years but at the moment he's a 50/50 shot of a dribbling into a turnover situation.

Anderson really has no part in this team. Who would've imagined that Dante would be completely out of the rotation at this stage? Baynes has been fantastic, looks like he could be off to Europe unless the Spurs up their offer.

Great win, we actually had to grind it out but it was half entertaining.

Slovenia would need to lose their game against Angola too for that to happen. But as I mentioned in an earlier post, there's absolutely no incentive for Lithuania to beat Slovenia.
Can't we still finish top? If Slovenia lose to Lith then there are 3 teams all with 4 wins 1 loss so won't it come down to whoever has the best +/- ?

How likely is it for Ingles to get picked up by an NBA team? And who does he go to? Heard the Grizzlies are into him because Gasol loves him, I think he could crack their rotation in front of Pondexter and take some minutes from the corpse formally known as Prince.
Or does he end up in Philly with the Brett Brown connection?

Lets be real, if Ingles makes a roster he's unlikely to crack the rotation for solid minutes.

Unless . . . .

So if we beat Angola the situation is this:

Slovenia wins = Slo, Aus, Lith
Lithuania wins by 1-4 = Slo, Aus, Lith
Lithuania wins by 5-8 = Slo, Lith, Aus
Lithuania wins by 9-13 = Lith, Slo, Aus
Lithuania wins by 14+ = Lith, Aus, Slo

The situation if we lose to Angola:

Slovenia wins = Slo, Aus, Lith
Lithuania wins = Lith, Slo, Aus

(Don't forget, finishing second means a matchup with the US in the quarter finals. If we finish third we wouldn't have to see them until the semi finals)

May as well rest the key guys and give Exum, Goulding, Jawai, etc. extended minutes.

They won't look to manipulate results, they'll play the same way they have been.

Whether we win or not against Angola, LIT have no incentive (other than pride perhaps) to beat SLO, and SLO needs to win to remove any chance of finishing 2nd. Therefore, a Slovenian defeat of Lithuania serves the purpose of both countries.

Okay, so we look a very good chance to finish 2nd. We would then get the 3rd place team from group C. I'm assuming the following happens in that group:
USA def Ukraine
NZ def Finland ... bit of a coin flip, but hey, let's go with it.

That means it comes down to Turkey vs Dominican Republic, which is the last game of the group.

If TUR win, they finish 2nd, DR finish 3rd and NZ 4th.
If DR win, they finish 2nd, NZ finish 3rd and TUR 4th.

In both cases, 3-5 will be tied on 7 points, and ultimately separated on goal average (which looks to be points %). I'm trusting Wikipedia on the tiebreakers because I couldn't find anything on the FIBA WC site.

If Finland, Finland, Finland beat the Kiwis, the TUR v DR game becomes a fight for 2nd place in the group, and the loser goes home! Either way, UKR will finish 3rd and FIN 4th.

COME ON YOU KIWIS!!!
COME ON YOU DOMINOES!!!
