Part of me wonders whether Spieth put in a respectable effort but did not want to win this week so that he doesn't feel obliged to come back next year (even though we would be spending our budget to get him out here).

Heard he did not come in as early as he would have due to a wedding--rounded into better form by Saturday/Sunday, which would have been first 2 rounds had he arrived as he usually does.

My understanding is also that his instructor is an Aussie--believe he was on the bag this week.

Seems to me his reasons for traveling also include personal so whilst I imagine he could always opt out, I think he will be back next year baring injury.

The worst one was the presentation ceremony. Welsh presented Matias Sanchez with the winning amateur medal without announcing his name and then forgot to interview him.

Then after they interviewed Cam Davis they got Matias back up for a chat (presumably to kill time until the news) and again did not announce his full name.

It was Benny Hill quality stuff.

That's his appearance fee mate. He's either getting $1.2M or $1.8M to come out here (depending to who you listen to). Being paid for by the NSW major events corporation.

A few other sweeteners thrown as well (eg 5 star suite at the Casino, spot in field for his mate Hickok etc).

So can I expect this treatment for Little AC at the Kids Australian Open in Sydney??

While we're at it, hows Peter Senior coming out of retirement to shoot a 67 on day one of the aus pga then following it up with a 71 to be T10.
