He might have been a good “Carn boys, let’s smash ‘em” style captain, and did inspirational things to lift the team onfield.

But he is an absolute moron, so what he thinks is moronic most of the time. He has proved that beyond doubt with immature and inappropriate public comments over and over.

Sicily struggles.

2mp gave the Hawks a bath to help turn the tide and their most experienced defender refused to go near him.

Would've been great leadership in the back six huddle after his 4th for Sicily to tell his team mates he was making Wright his responsibility.

Instead he got caught up having to stop a bloke who's played less than 10 games of full footy in 2 years and a ruckman playing his 2nd AFL game though. Easier to peel off the inexperienced kids to stat pad for sure but really poor leadership.

Pendlebury, a good example of a great great player not being suited to the job, but due to fear of the iconoclast, the heretic, the painful truthteller, noone would ever say so.

Love to know why exactly.
I would have thought he has been alot better than many captains.
Took over during a period of transition with senior, premiership winning players were leaving, playing a straight bat during the Buckley/Malthouse saga, and then again with the pressure on Buckley's position back in 2017 and again last year.
Leading the club to a GF (and almost winning it), as well as a Prelim.
Continues to be a strong player even though he is in his 30s.
Playing a coaching role on the field for the new recruits from 2020 trade period.
Continues to prepare well before games and sets an example.

So why is he the worst captain? I can think of many who are worse. Can't you?

In relation to Tex being a bad captain, who would really know? I mean does he need to be a genius to be a good captain?
Sure he's said and done some dumb things but he also helped lead our club through one of the worst situations any club could possibly face which no other captain would have had to deal with. How could anyone here say he was a bad captain through that period?

Takes a massive contract, made captain and turns to water.

GWS are then forced to bring in another 2 captains to help him and save face.
Couldn't even do the team thing and step down.
