Josh bootsma!Even his name is crap.
long time ago in 1981 maybe carlton had two debutants in the same game Hocking and Dutton. blues were pretty strong then (won the flag that year). Fair to say neither had great games. When asked about them on world of sport the next day Sam Newman said "hocking was shocking and dutton did nuttin". For Sam it was good work. fair to say neither gad great careers one played 6 games and for the other it was his solitary game.

Dean Terlich, he was tough and hard at the footy but his disposal and decision making was God-awful. Roos first came in with the idea of pumping up the players confidence with a love and cuddles approach, despite losing to St Kilda (with Eli ******* Templeton playing like a Brownlow medalist) and being flogged by the Eagles at the 'G, it was a Dean Terlich stuff up that really made him lose his cool for the first time - he turned over an absolute howler in Q3 of Rd3 vs GWS at Spotless, which saw them score a goal, at quarter time. Roos was completely apoplectic with rage, he stormed onto the ground from the boundary and went looking for Terlich, gave him the biggest bollocking I've ever seen a footy player receive. For someone to stand out as utter shite in the 2014 version of the MFC took some doing

Addam Maric was pretty awful.

Think he primarily got drafted off the back of being an awesome converter - had some ridiculously impressive goalkicking stats in his last couple of years of junior footy. But as a 178cm forward without a tank for the midfield, nor any pace of note he didn't have the athletic tools to succeed in the AFL, particularly in teams with as poor supply as Melbourne and Richmond had in those days.

Odd fact: that Hocking is Heath's (Essendon) uncle

I'm going to nominate Daniel McAlister
Averaged 1 game a year after being, iirc, a top 10 pick
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_McAlister

From Hawthorn I nominate:
- Tom Murphy
- Steven Greene
- Ryan Lonie
- Nick Ries
- Simon Taylor
- Tim Hargreaves
- Jason Taylor
- Zac Dawson

I take those names and raise you Josh Thurgood

Copeland666.

What was bad about Nick Ries?

Also, Hawks drafted Nathan Lonie and not Ryan.

Nick Ries couldn't play football.

You're right about Lone. Both twins were not up to scratch.

It was a pitiful period at Hawthorn. The consensus at the time was to recruit athletes and turn them into footballers.

HA

We finally came to our senses and sacked Schwab. Groupthink architect Ian Dicker left as did the rest of the lame sheep from that era, we recruited footballers instead and started doing better.

However, the positive group thinkers on the Hawthorn board would be upset with me for posting this

Can I also nominate Tim Clarke from Hawthorn as an absolutely rat sh#t footballer.

"Best athlete I've ever seen", as described by his coach Peter Schwab

Also, Nick give me more money Holland was pretty *******. Terrible kick and terrible person

He was pretty good for a few years in the 1998-2000 period. Could definitely take a grab, certainly shouldn't be in a worst AFL players thread.

Worst players to play for Adelaide?

Jacob Schuback, struggled in his 7 games.
Bryce Campbell, also struggled.
Michael Cook, also struggled.
Nick Gill was shockingly entertaining but somewhat contributed during his short career, had some awful misses in front of goal and kicked some amazing goals too and took a huge grab in the final game of 2008 in heavy rain vs the Western Bulldogs.
