A bit of flair and terms of endearment towards players gives them a public personality in this era of club media department managed player interviews turning players into robots, and people like BT is what makes commentary colourful and not bland. Give the guy a break.

I like him. He makes it entertaining and just goes for the team who is losing. Most commentators do since a close game is an entertaining game.

Basil Zempalis is a nose in front any other commentator for worse in the business. He is a fair dinkum knob head.

As per previous posts we didn’t have an issue with BT on radio calling games he was great.

Now the true general consensus is he is infuriating on TV as a commentator

darce and richo hate BT. every time they commentate they get into an argument about nothing. Rich and ling the only professionals there.

Ling is a deadset stinker. Watch him do special comments at a Geelong game

I'm sick of BT and Luke "I just love the way he goes about it" Darcy ruining every Saturday night blockbuster with their dribble and humor aimed at a bunch of imbeciles.

Says a lot about Channel Seven really. I've been saying it for years, Australian TV is a disgrace, far from professional and look at me Moos run the channels.

Go find me an NFL, NBA or EPL blockbuster that has a bunch of commentators rambling on about nothing and trying desperately to create a great catchphrase.

Just ******* embarrassing. A blight on our game. I shouldn't have attend every bloody match just to enjoy the game and listen to some good commentary. People abused Rex but up until his last year at 3AW, he was funny and he knew what he was talking about.

It's not just the Saturday night crew either. Almost every seven commentator is a disgrace and if Foxtel was more affordable, seven would be looking at record lows in ratings. In fact, the entire seven network are a bunch of muppets.

One must wonder how a network can go so far backwards in footy broadcasting after being quite good early in the millennium.

Really hope I see BT around this season so I can tell him what a silly person he is.

How does one attend a match to hear good commentary. I assume you mean atmosphere, which is when I start to pine for the original Fox Footy where you could turn the commentary on and off along with a few different things.

Also, Foxtel uses the same commentators when the game is on FTA.

Surely as soon as they are able to fox will put in place their own team for ALL games...
Would be nice to have all games in HD as well, another area 7 are dropping the ball

Have to agree with Darcy there I'm afraid. Hampson is a massive spud. I just hate the way he goes about his footy.

wish it was like it was in the 90's. Even watching Footy Flashbacks some of the calling of the games was great.
Always will remember Don Scott, even though i didnt rate him as a commentator generally, calling that Fitzroy Crows game at Football Park in 1991 when Jameson kicked the winner after the siren.

I meant when I go to the game and then I listen via radio. Unfortunately the TV and radio aren't in sync.

it's 7. just look at dennis. he went from being a quality commentator at 9 to rubbish in 5 minutes at 7. bt was good on fox. now he's ratshit at 7. darcey has always been shit richo is good

I really wish commentators would have an understanding of the rules before they start being critical of the umpires. Fair enough to have a go if there are blatant mistakes, but there seem to be a number of commentators these days who consistently bash the umpires for making correct decisions. It boggles the mind.

Fox are actually pretty good at this, if they make a mistake in the call and it shows up on the replay, they generally acknowledge their mistake (Dunstall does this a lot). On seven you usually get an awkward silence.

Tony shaw has to be the worst commentator I've seen had the displeasure of being subjected to.His commentary angle is that of miked up clueless supporter shouting "just kick it long" for 2 hours.
Basil Zempilas is a disgusting and infuriating human and a non event in footballing circles. He is a big fan of Basil though.

Darcy is a company man with the personality of a fish finger.

At least BT and Richo have a bit of unique character and add an unrehearsed natural enthusiasm to the call. The above mentioned nerds bring 0 personality to the call at all, I'd prefer loveable idiots to self indulged **** faces anyday.
I don't mind Drew Morphett on the radio either, it reminds of the commentary from the early nineties as a young bloke.
