Many of us on here play sport, do stupid things from time to time. Whats the worst injury you've suffered?

I managed to avoid anything major for a while, just had the usual wear and tear injuries from (attempting) to bowl fast. Then last year playing soccer (hungover as balls, having had someone put a mid-season function on the night before our game) i broke my arm pretty badly, required surgery and ended up with a plate and seven screws in there. This was just after getting the bandage/backslab off (10 days after breaking it)

Missed the rest of soccer season (about 6 weeks or so), pretty shit

This year went on holiday mid year, within 2 hours of getting on the snow I stuffed my AC joint. Missed another 5 weeks of soccer, played last game heavily strapped and cant bowl at cricket at the moment (and my arms is even worse). Frustrating injuries!

Was cleaning a glass, and it shattered while I was holding it. Cut down to the bone, two severed tendons and a few cut ligaments. 30 something stitches, the specialist said the cuts were some of the worst he had seen. Good thing it was my non dominant hand. Still can't feel the tips of some of my fingers.

And that was my whole summer spent with my arm in a sling not allowed to move it from an upright position.

Fractured a finger while playing footy once, and I will never be able to bend it properly again. Other than that, nothing. I've been pretty lucky actually, considering I played footy for over 10 years. Not even a hammy or muscle strain either. Swimming and lifesaving helped a lot, as I always got a good recovery. And as they are only the 2 sports I'm still doing, the chances of injury are pretty minimal.

dislocated kneecap/torn medial collateral ligament in my right knee playing soccer.

I've had plenty of broken bones and deep gashes (have one at the moment that is causing me some trouble) but the worst I can remember in terms of pain and yuckiness is when I broke the tip of my middle finger. It got caught in the hinge side of the door and my brother was slamming the door as it happened. He managed to get the door closed with my finger in there... Finally got it out and the bone was completely shattered and they doubted it would ever fix itself and there was of course the danger of amputation. Got lucky and it fixed itself. Looked like ****ing mash potato though!

Couple of broken arms as a kid. Not at once thankfully.

First one was in Year 4, fell down the stairs. Knew it was broken, but was going on holiday to the Gold Coast in the next week, so didn't want a cast on it. Fair to say it hurt like **** on some of the rides which stop suddenly. Decided to get a cast on it when I got home.

The other one was a bit more regulation. Footy injury, got crunched and fell on it.

Also had some sort of ankle injury in year 10 or so. Never figured out exactly what it was, but I couldn't run for 3 or 4 months without it hurting like a bitch.

lol that's nothing ClarkeM, one time i was walking around my house and stubbed my little toe on a door frame.

now that's real pain.

Happened this year, playing footy and I fractured a rib. Continued to play (it felt nore than winded) and played games after. Play another game, got a knock to the same side of the rib cage and felt horrible pain. Then couldn't even jog without having trouble breathing so I went to hospital and turned out both those knocks fractured two fifferent ribs and and in two different times.

EDIT: Bloody hell ClarkeM.

Broken ribs twice playing footy, can be pretty painful. kneed in the eye playing footy also could not open my eye for 1 week.

The worst was probably breaking my jaw in two places, have a plate in there that will remain. Have also managed to break both my arms and have had broken ribs. The recovery for ribs and jaw is the killer, can't eat solids with one and can't sleep/laugh/cough/sneeze etc for the other. I'd actually have them on par for annoying recovery.

Fracture my tibia and fibula while being tackled as I tried to soccer a goal playing footy. Was attempting to kick it with my non-dominant foot, so snapped my good leg.:(

Perfect thing to do during year 12, and a couple of months before going overseas.

I feel a bit ridiculous having done my worst injury washing up as opposed to an awesome sporting story :o
DW man, apart from my broken ribs, the next best injury I got was facing a bowler in the nets and got hit on the box. Had a bruise around where it was sitting. Those things are lifesavers.:D

Tore knee cartlidge playing Union.

Dislocated finger playing footy, put it back in on the ground to keep playing and now its bent for good.

But the one that pisses me off the most is shin splints god damn they sucks balls.

Broke my leg a few weeks ago running backwards. I stepped on someone's foot and my leg twisted into his and then it twisted back underneath me and I fell on it.

Broken LEG - Nathan Brown/Michael Barlow style.

Lead up CHF moving towards wing, kick goes over the top, turn and run with flight - teammate and his opponent running towards me. Opposition players slides in under me and collapses across my leg. Snaps tibia (likened to a gun going off by the people in the crowd) which in turn breaks fibula. Leg pointing in the wrong direction. Unpleasant.

Snapped a bone in my hand playing football.

Also, not a bone injury but bit my tongue off as a little kid jumping on beds. Very messy
