would you consider trading Fisher for a midfielder from west coast maybe selwood , we have a packt foward line and they have a packt Midfield really both teams win we need a midfielder they need a proper foward and we have alot of tall fowards in Waite Fevola Kennedy Whitnall and so on .. so would you guys consider it ? or maybe even fisher and pick 17 ( considering out posistion on the ladder atm ) for Kerr or something what do you guys think ? is it worth it , do both teams get a fair trade ?

I think we'd be best served to just move Waite into the midfield or onto a wing. Problem solved. No real need to trade Fisher, he's a quality player.

the thing is he has had alot of injuries ... and i dont no yeah he is a good player but i think we would just be better off with a midfielder

Fisher and pick 17 for Kerr - would have to take it. Kerr is a class over and above Fisher, and pick 17 is still a speculative draft pick. I'd take Fisher for Selwood too. Fisher is solid, but not great by any stretch of the imagination; and given the struggles some teams have finding players of his type, might be our best trade piece.

I doubt we will trade him though. Carlton will be pretty conservative in the near future - which sucks because it'll make rebuilding a much slower process.

I'd prefer to trade Waite before Fisher....

But there is no need too, move Waite to defence and bob's your uncle.

We will not be trading young players.

yeah but selwood isnt much older and we would be better off , and what happens if waite doesnt make it in the defence , it just really makes me wonder what goes on in dennis pagans head .. why cant he think of these things aswell ? i no i would do this trade straight away

No. Leave our forward line alone-Fev, Waite, Fish, Kennedy and Eddie look to be a very exciting prospect for us, and will hopefully make most defenses **** their pants when they play us :D

Our midfield needs working. I would not trade one component of our exciting forward line to get a player of the calibre of Selwood. I would much rather utilize the draft for this purpose, and look to recruit the likes of Bryce Gibbs and Brock O'Brien. Much better prospects IMO :thumbsu:

You have to give something to get something though. The question is, would our team be better off with Fisher or Sellwood? Given we have plenty of forwards, but sadly lack depth in the midfield, I'd say we'd be better with Sellwood - who probably has more potential too.

thank you , couldnt have said it better myself , i just decided to let it go .. to tell you the truth i dont think fisher is gonna be that good anyway plauged with injury and from watching him .. he isnt as good as people rate him

Fisher is a good player-awesome hands, presents all day and is certainly handy as a 3rd or 4th tall, where he will get the 3rd or 4th best defenderand will be able to beat him consistently. He is important to our side.

Much rather keep him, and focus on our midfield in the draft by picking the likes of Gibbs and O'Brien.

Selwood will be a reasonably good player, no doubt, but IMO Fisher will prove to be more valuable to our side.

i think both players are really on the same level skill wise , but , if the trade was to happen , its a win/win situation carlton obviously lacks depth in the midfield and west coast lack good fowards

I agree we will better off recruiting young mids come draft day.
We will also free up some space in the forward line with Waite to be moved to CHB in a effort to sure up the backline and to get some consistencey in his game.

4 talls in our forward line does not work

How do we know that Fev, Waite, Fish & JK can't co-exist in the forward line?

We haven't had the luxury of having all four of them fit and playing week in week out to see how the function together.

Fisher & Waite are not your typical "big forward" in any event, they are very mobile (when fit) and are not easily exposed going the other way like a DeLuca or Whitnall can be when played forward.

Lets give them a chance before we go dismantling the forward line altogether via trades.

I really like Fisher. He has great hands and heaps of guts and seems like a really level quality person. However he is very ungainly in movement and this contributes to very poor field kicking at times. He also is not as agile as I would like for a 3rd or 4th tall forward. If he was built like Jonathan Brown and could be a key forward then I would keep him.

As it stands I am not sure he is going to be a starter in our best 18 for years to come. If we could get Kerr or a big defender then I think he is expendable. Waite whilst a little lost in his consistency at present could be a star something I don't think Fish will become.

I don't think we'll be involved in too many trades at all, unless someone desperately wants out of the club. Stevens is one that comes to mind there with the way he's been playing. We are just starting to get a good group of kids together. Let them play together for a couple of years and gel as a team.

How would you know wether or not he has thought about it ? Its a lame idea. You cant buy the passion that Waite has for the blues (think father and son) he hasnt made it in the forward line (do you think the weagles wouldnt be aware of that fact mate ?) and you are trading him into a super draft, double dumb.

He is going to be tried down back and thats about the best thing for him at the moment. Given a couple of injury free years he may fulfill the expectations, until then, move on.

Isn't almost every pick a "speculative" pick? Just because there is an element of risk in something does not mean that the potential pay-off is automatically out-weighed by an alternative. Add to that the fact that we are loosing out numerically with that particular deal.

I agree. Consistancey has been a bug bear of Waites, he shows plenty but will then go missing. He acts out in frustration on occassion as well. At either CHB or HBF he will be able to attack the ball and his opponent, he will also be able to provide us with fantastic rebound. The one thing I want to see more than anything is his natural aggression, this is something our defense lacks and needs desperately.

I really like Fisher as a player. Good tall player that uses the ball well.... But Kerr...? Second in the brownlow last year. Does anyone know how old he is? Dont want anyone too old, just a bit of experience in the side
