Would we consider Kane Cornes?

Why??

He doesnt hurt teams. 30 possessions of sideways footy means nothing. But thats Port game plan I 'spose.

We have more than enough players of his ilk. Players that are 5-6-7 years younger as well.

Major pass thanks.

On their board they are talking first round Draft picks Good God

if he's unappy with port's offer, then look no further than the gold coast. plenty of coin available there for the right player. i would have thought that he would have been ideal for them. mature, massively consistent, hard at ball and player. my expectation is that there is an offer on the table from the suns and his manager is now looking to get it matched in adelaide. answer to this

NFW - don't know if this is standard abbrev, but it means no fxxking way. unless a psd choice or late 3rd rounder. he would be a depth player only. while he will definately get a game for port this week, no way would he dislodge any of our midfield.

I suppose if you look at it he is a bit similar to Dane Swan in a way. Both player's disposal by foot isn't overly great, however, the fact they get 30+ touches most games still makes them damaging players. Kane Cornes hasn't been great over the past few years but neither has the side he is playing in.

If we were offered a 2nd or a 3rd round pick for him then it would be something I'd consider. Port will probably try and milk maximum value from him though (ie: a player/1st round DP), in which case... no deal!:thumbsd:

Agree, developing our kids is the only way to go, and he would take 22 good games off another player. Having said that, have massive respect for what he's achieved, not many players can lay claim to an AFL premiership, and he is obviously a ball magnet and past club champion. I'm simply gobsmacked at the lack of respect for him in that thread on their board, they are losing the plot over there, no respect for one of their club's greats, and one of it's only 5 or so 200 game players, with 160 of them on the trot. Not the kind of thing I'm used to from port supporters. As for him coming here, it'd have to be a resounding no.

Port would want more than he's worth plus Radar and Dogga are doing well as taggers and their disposal is slightly better than Kane's. We also have a lot of talented kids who should be given preference over a guy who is nearing the end of his career.
I think he still hasn't forgiven the Crows for picking Laurence Angwin over him.

To be honest, neither have I!

I would have loved to have Kane at the club 5 or 6 years ago but now - Nah. I'm already stumped as to how we're going to fit Bock, Porps and Knighta back into the side without even taking into consideration getting games into the likes of McKernan, Sellar, Petrenko, Cook etc.

We need to continue to focus on our youth. I would only consider trading for a truly elite mid (Griffen, Cooney, Gibbs etc) someone with elite disposal/skills who would complement our current midfield brigade or another quality ruckman. Maybe a nippy small crumbing forward although our forward line is coming along quite nicely now. I just don't think Kornes is the player we need to complement the types of players we already have.

I'd trade Cook for Kane.

Watched Adelaide play West Coast. Adelaide is doing great with their young guys in the mid. Both the Cornes are past it and are fast becoming list cloggers. Stay away!

He is a major part of the off field player divide at Port, one day Shaunie will speak the truth.

We dont want that influence at our club.

No thanks.

The cornes brothers sound remarkably similar to the essendon saga unfolding. McVeigh comes to mind. Was a good player, past it now but has a huge influence around the club with the players. CLubs should be very wary of taking on these older players that never hit elite status.

He'd be an awesome pick up for a developing club like GC or Richmond because off-field he can set the standards. But Adelaide don't need him.

Why pay over the odds for a guy who wouldn't add a whole lot to our side and would require a large contract to get him here in the first place.

100% spot on the money. Like someone else said we already have symes, reilly. Thats certainly good enough. He is what 26/27? No thanks. We should be building a young side

i read someone called him an 'Elite player'???? um no he is not. I thought that is reserved for players like judd, ablett, franklin???

would you consider chris knights?

haha....some people on richmond board fancy chris knights, whats there chances of seeing him play at punt rd?

I actually like Kane Cornes. He does what he's told to do without any fuss or dramas. So different to his brother who is a complete "tother".
But ..we don't need him.

I like Kane - but as someone pointed out we don't need him and most importantly he's not even a vague cultural match to our club - and thats the deal breaker... too long at Port...
