I reckon you'd be on the money.

I think they will take kids at 13 and 21 and then kelly at 26 or 32. Carlton at 30 is also reportedly keen.

Starting to think Zac Bailey would be a good pickup, along with Tim Kelly, and if Balta is gone, then maybe Sam Taylor as a KPD. I think Taylor maybe the strongest contested mark out of the many KPDs.

Just depends on sliders. I am expecting bailey to go 15-21 but all it takes is ballenden or naish to get bid early or clubs like WB WCE Sydney etc to pick a different player to what we all expect and there will be a decent quality slider.

He will be in our VFL system it seems if overlooked at the draft. It suggests we won't be looking at him in the draft if we are inviting him to the VFL squad.

When do they start with the VFL squad ..I actually thought it may give them an insight to if he was worth a late pick

In unrelated matters i am liking our possible vfl squad for next year as we have some good falcons training we have kept most of our good vfl guys again next year (tsitas atkins mclachlan etc) and we will get keras if he is not drafted. Edwards retiring is a real loss but if the afl team has a better run with injury than it did this year then the vfl team should do well next year.

Wooller seems to be th consensus pick 35 for us. Do you think that’s a bit early? I know we may not have a choice, but is he worthy of that pick or do people just put him there in phantoms due to the family narrative.

With the key forwards you have hayes brander ballenden (academy) and allen who will probably all go top 20/25 just a matter of where (some clubs may look at balta as a possible forward also)

Then you have wooller in that next 25-40 range along with probably CCJ and McCartin and then someone like Ben Miller as a 3rd/4th round option.

So considering that and Battle picked at 39 last year who was very similar to Wooller 35 is probably about right (it would be nice if he slid to his family club in the 60s like Kerr did but i doubt Wooller will last to that pick). The family connection is a bit relevant but the reality is all the first group i listed will probably be taken by 35, we really need a KPF and he will likely be the best KPF left at that pick so it's more that.

I think if someone like Balta is available at our first pick I can see us taking him and not pulling the trigger on Wooller. I’d be happy with Bailey too so we can have a fully formed NT brat pack.

I don't like Balta as a key forward as i don't think he has the footy IQ for it i prefer him as CHB where the forward leads him to the ball. But Wells may see it differently.

I do think Bailey is the sort of player Wells will be keen on but he may go before 22.

All those rookies and other second year players, (Abbott, Esava, House ) should be much better this year after their first full preseason.
I can see a full 22 effort this year rather than 15, carrying kids / first year types.

Bailey and Parfitt would make a nice smaller midfield rotation for the next 10-12 years.

Bailey is quite quick, sub 3 seconds for 20m.

Kelly won't get past WCE's 2nd round picks IMO.

I am far from expert but he looks to me a less polished Menagola. But I suppose they say there isn't much depth to the draft and west coast could use his type after retirements.

Couple of things. He is quicker and has outside skill and there is not a lot of that type in this draft. Secondly WC's midfield is very thin and i have no doubt them trading into all those 2nd rounders was them trying to rebuild on the run so no doubt from me that they take him there. Hence if we want him we will need to take him in the 20s, i am not necessarily convinced he will be as good as Menegola he might be worse or better it will be hard to say until he has had a couple of years in the system. But i expect he will be the first state league player drafted this year.

I’d be thrilled with Balta 22, Bailey 24, Wooller 35 and Sambono 58. Relying on a few slides on current projections but it’s a nice blend.

Balta reminds me a bit too much of Stanley would prefer a number of KPDs including Taylor. But sign me up for Bailey and Wooller.

I’d be interested to see if Stanley reads it as well in flight as a defender as Balta appears too. If Gardener doesn’t come on maybe we will.

House is twice the defender of Stanley IMO.

What i meant re Balta is he is great athletically but is inconsistent in performance and doesn't read the gane well-both Stanley traits.

Agree with the first three for sure... Or go someone like Miers or Kelly with 35 if available and hold out for Wooller or McCartin at 58. Not much a fan of Sambono.

6 List spots available (7 delisted/traded, and added GAJ). Parsons to be upgrade with last pick.

Likely Wells selections:

22: Balta
24: Garner
35: McCartin
58: Daniels
72: Keras*
90: Parsons

* Keras maybe being drafted due to linkages with Dangerfield.

What I actually want:

22: Balta
24: Miers
35: Wooller
58: Daniels
72: T Kelly (WAFL)
90: Parsons

Re doing this:

What I actually want:

22: Z Bailey
24: T Kelly (WAFL) / L O'Brien
35: S Taylor
58: Wooller/McCartin
72: Daniels/Crowden
90: Parsons[/QUOTE]

This brings in plenty of speed and immediate types ready for seniors next season with Bailey, Kelly and Daniels/Crowden.

I think Bailey is the real under-rated midfield gem in this draft, he has good explosive pace, and good awareness. I think he could play an outside role too with his pace, and at 181cm, its not too small, could be a Selwood replacement tbh.

I emailed Wellsy at the end of the season to mention Tim Kelly as an ideal replacement if we lose Motlop.

He has not replied, which suggests he may be keen on him.

He usually replies a few days later thanking for the email and that we will keep an eye the suggested prospect. I think he already has his eyes on him.

To me Kelly is the best Midfielder outside of the AFL system. Its probably the only ready-made midfielder I would select; otherwise go with kids in the draft.

It could although because of his family situation how Kelly and his partner interviewed with us will probably be the deciding factor in whether we recruit him.

Is his email public knowledge?
I have lots of "tips" for him.

Look, I will refrain from giving his email out on a forum like this.

However, what I did originally was send an email to the General HR function as per the contact us link below, and they forwarded my email to him; he then responded.

I would say this is the best method, and encourage you to email if you have good insights, he reads his emails that's for sure.

Yeah, if Kelly is not suitable for a move to Vic, then I would think about Lochie O'Brien if available at Pick 22 or 24. He looks the best outside midfielder, much better than Ling IMO. Ling fades in and out of the game. O'Brien reads the play much better.
