I think we will most likely get a 2nd round pick for him. Thats about what hes worth. Possibly the Pick Geelong receive for Shane Kersten. I can't see Geelong wanting to trade anyone other than Motlop or Vardy and I don't think we'd want either of those players.

Hey guys, I come in peace. Just a quick question about Zach. How fast would you say he is? Average/Above average or fast?? He seems to break the lines pretty well, would he be one of your faster players? Cheers.

Above average speed in both accelerationa and in full burst speed. Can move off both legs in space and can weave hsi way through traffic - I had him as a damaging midfield as preferred role at carlton- but he has been needed to bolster up defense- for years. Kicking ability definately A grade if not elite.

I will miss him more than Bwyce - Tuohy is a very under rated player at Carlton - being 'let go' because defensive formation planned to incluide Weitering/Plowman/Marchbank and a coupel of GWS recruits on top of Docherty/Simpson ie the opnlyh aerea at Carlton that will be top8 quality.

Tuohy will play week in week out for Geelong and deliver more than Henderspud.

I fear that thsi trade may be a loser for us unless we score a decent mid and a half decent forward.

Can't settle for a late 2nd rounder. That's horrible for us. I know they can't manufacture picks they don't have though. Maybe add a player or a second late second rounder.

Problem is we are getting a few in. Need a heap more delistings.

I could be wrong but I thought Geelong couldn't trade future picks because they did that last season?

At which point, they'll need to provide a decent player to us or a Motlop to somewhere else and then on trade that pick to us.

Wonder if Tuohy has a clear 2nd club he'd like to end up at?

I am confused by Geelong's process.

Geelong offer Tuohy a 4 year deal (obviously in the last week or so) yet Stephen Wells Geelong's list manager states on AFL.com.au that it will be very very difficult from a cap point of view to fit both Tuohy & Delidio in ?????

So if they cant afford it, why offer the contract ????

One great positive if Gibbs and Tuohy are on the trade table- I would imagine that a lot of players wont be starting a pre-seaason with unacceptable fitness and body conditioning base - maybe types like Jacksh sshoudl be training their back sides off right now if they had a brain.

The Club will have added to the "we want you list in 2017 and the "we don't really know if want you list" training together - perhaps a couple of the we dont want you brigade might decide that they are actually playing for their AFL careers and give it all they have. In this context letting blokes like Clem Smith go and a few of the other never gunna make its along with teh hard ball on Kreuzer and Casboult's contracts - is more evidence of SOS/Bolton high benchmarks.

The new players will be under no illusions that they are there to prove themselves and that the Club is fair dinkum about a rebuild and has high aspirations.

We are approaching bottom - and hopefully be end of trade period will have a much deeper list depth and higher theoretical upside from a a much younger group.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but heard an interesting possible trade scenario on trade radio (don't shoot the messenger).
Unfortunately it would probably fall down at the GWS part, as they don't seem to want any players, but a 3-way could work with:
Tuohy to Geelong
Motlop to GWS
Marchbank and Pickett to Carlton

Effectively Tuohy for MB/Pickett. We could thrown in a 2nd/3rd to get some of the other players thrown in from GWS if need be. Been mentioned that the small forward spot is probably GWS' only real weak spot at the moment and Stevie-J probably only has one year left and is unpredictable with niggling injuries and suspensions that can see him miss games.
Seems to be a win/win/win if GWS could be encouraged to take a player instead of a pick. Geelong would be happy getting Tuohy for Motlop, as they don't have much currency and we can hit the draft with #5 and pick up #13, Lyons*, Marchbank, Pickett and whoever else we can squeeze out from GWS, and lose Gibbs, Tuohy and maybe a later pick.

GWS won't want to pay Motlop big cash to play reserves

Pretty sure GWS have said they're not looking to trade in any players this year.

On top of that I very much doubt they'd look at someone like Motlop - they are very well stocked in his position.
Are they?

GWS don't have a lot of depth at small forward, especially when Johnson retires in 12 months.

I am not against Motlop. Yes I don't like his play style, but **** we can use a player like him. I don't know why so many are against recruiting him?

Motlop and Tuohy... addresses one of our weakest areas by losing a player from the only position in which we are strong in.

Do you remember him turning up to preseason training a fat lump?
Or losing his head against us & giving away free kicks & 50m penalties any time the footy entered Geelong's forward line?
Or kicking one of the silliest points of all time against Hawthorn, which should've cost Geelong the game?

After giving away Robinson & Garlett for free I would not want to bring back in someone with a far worse attitude than either of those two.

And yet he would be the most skillful player on our list with ability to kick goals and pressure in our forward line, that none of our current players can do.

Betts has previously turned up fat to preseason and Betts has previously turned to water under targeted pressure.

Yes, he doesn't have the best attitude, but hell, the best we will probably get from Geelong is a pick in the mid 30s.

I will have a Motlop at any time.

Id be ecstatic with that outcome.

And it's not unplausable either...not sure if GWS would be happy with it although they could do with a talented small/medium forward.

1 tackle in 2 finals is my concern.

Yeah if push comes to shove Motlop for an out of contract Tuohy is a reasonable deal.

Id want Geelong to pay some of his salary though.

their pick in the 30s plus a player like murdoch or horlin smith or smedts may get it done. personally rather keep tuohy but seems as though he is gone

Geelong board rumour is this.

Given Tuohy is out of contract and has nominated, i could live with a pick in the 30's and a player like Smedts.

I still think Smedts could become a player...would add to our midfield rotations and running power.
Then maybe on-trade the 30's pick for a player like Lennon.

Tuohy for Smedts and Lennon...its not bad.
