Bit of an urban myth IMO... When you were playing well, and got dropped, then played ok in the VFL only to be shafted for R Clarke; how are you supposed to react? Very understandable for him and Goose to look flat (which they did).

It's like being 6' foot 6 in high school, 100kgs and getting picked last behind the skinny nerd for a wrestling team. At some time you say "enough is enough"

If Raph is not in our best 6, Lyon needs to stand up, admit his failure and address WHY he keeps getting picked. It's not enough to just keep doing it with no return.

Raph i about as useful as shares in ABC.

Yes, Ross Lyon has a lot of questions to answer...like why are you so freaking good?

Zebras were smashed in the ruck and the ball was going strait to the backline, where they were also pretty much smashed. To be fair to the Saints, it seemed to be the non-Saints players who were the biggest weakness in the backline.
Despite losing in the Ruck I thought Stanley was pretty good around the ground, so thats OK the rucking will come in time.

Not many opportunities for Heyne or Lynch but they were OK when they got it.
I thought that Armitage was OK given the conditions.

Bit of typical st kidla mentatliy there.. see some success and suddenly everyting is perfect and we can't fault anything.. need to hunt for perfection, not allow mediocre players to get by

raph has shown nothing at AFL level to deserve a spot in the top team

Raph before Geary based on the Cats game.

Interesting that Kingy was watching the game. He didn't seem to be with anyone else, and there would be a fair age difference between him and the guys playing ( as far as being close mates with them ). Do you think he was checking out the kids he has been mentoring in the ruck ( would explain his somber look ).

He was at the Zebs game? Good to see. I assume he's put more time into Macca who will become a similar size and might have similar mobility!

But I guess even though the other boys (Stanley, Gaertner and Ooh Aah) are pure athletes they will get plenty from Kingy who will have been training hard the last month to keep his fitness up. I can't see Rhys having implemented any of his tips yet - he is not keen to get a knee in the ribs until he's put some beef on!

Also thought it was great Leigh Fish and King were quick to get down to the rooms to congratulate the guys after the Geelong game.

And Leigh has let himself go a bit and gotten a neck beard, neard? beck? So that was pure awesome as well. :p

Phil Cleary said he asked Kingy if they could have a talk to which Kingy replied "I'm right thanks".
Probably didn't want to talk to him due to the fact that Cleary is a babbling idiot.

King was sitting next to Leigh Fisher... although it took me a second to recognise him with that BEARD!

I think it works OK with Cleary on the boundary - at least him and Ross Booth are out of the commentary box. They spent more time talking about the cakes the local ladies had given them than the freaking game.

I would prefer it if the ABC commentators recognised our guys - when Leigh Fish was playing they were getting him and Armo mixed up, and also Begley and Eddy. I was thinking Eljay and Gwilty were next.

And does anyone know who of the St Kilda extended bench did not take the flight to Perth ?

St Kilda Int (from) : Raphael Clarke, Luke Ball, Sean Dempster, Robert Eddy, James Gwilt, Ben McEvoy, Luke Miles

Sandringham Int : Johnson McEvoy Geary Miles Howard Dempster R. Eddy Gwilt McGarry T. Johnston R. Clarke Gaertner Ball

I think they do that every week.

Took the doctors a week to realise Armo HAD broken his collarbone?
Would have thought the expert Sandi watchers who file their reports on here would have known that Armitage was knocked rotten behind the play and lay unconcious on the ground for a while.
Despite this was for some reason brought back on but would definately be suffering from concussion.

JB - should you have any tidbits from the games, they can be posted on the thread any time. Did the ABC pick up the incident (I didn't see it), were you at the game, or just using telepathy today?

Encouraging from Lynch. Don't reckon he'll be brought in this year (never know though) but he definitely looks the goods for the future.

Agreed Guide.

Good to see Lynch back it up - that's 3 good performances in a row. Also Simpkin, who has been playing good footy with the reserves and translated it straight into form in the seniors. There are a few lads running around with a fair chunk of talent, and I'm looking forward to seeing them kick on after another pre-season (Stanley, Lynch, Heyne, Stevens, Simpkin etc).
