Nothing to do with the trade ban whatsoever. One of the benefits of trading a player in is that he gets to bed in with his new club immediately. If we remove this incentive then it's only going to encourage clubs to actively seek to pick up players for no compensation in the future.Why? It's in the rules, if a club makes an 'official' claim to pick a player up in the PSD then they are allowed to start training.
Presumably you weren't happy with the AFL making up the Swans trade rule on the run, so you shouldn't hope the AFL makes up another rule on the run.
Just because it doesn't benefit your club doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed.
St Kilda had a choice, they chose the PSD route so they should be made to follow the rules.
