Doulton Langlands' work rate was as high as any in the day's action. He ran from half back to half forward, to the wing on the other side of the field and then pushed back again, all in the one play, covering in excess of 100 metres in one sequence without slowing. On another play, Langlands ran with ball in hand 20m in the back 50m arc, kicked short to a target, then ran in support from half-back to half-forward. While the 187cm, 79kg, GWS Academy member only had the 10 disposals, he provided run with ball in hand and kicked long.

So did my homework and talked to a few of the Senior Tallangatta and District league players at work. Guys seemed to think that Paton will be a really good pick up.
Thoughts were that although may not play multiple games next year would eventually find his way into the midfield - may start at hbf but mid was going to be his real position. Still very impressed of him winning the BnF as a 16 year old.

the main differance was each week Cox was getting better and better heck in 2004 he was very very close to being signed as a Saint as GT went hard for him.. in his WAFL performance COX was killing it it was only Gardi keeping him out for Lewie his VFL performances have been hohum and he is trending in the wrong direction to the point where i doubt any other club besides us would consider offering him a rookie spot...
thats sadly AFL footy some make it some dont but Lewies situation is very far removed from that of Cox

Know Cox’s history mate , with respect Matthew Lobbe carried Port Adelaide’s ruck one out they were
Offered unbelievable trade for him which they knocked back only to give him away later on

Things change at football clubs particularly Ruckman

Seen Lewis be played out position many times at Sandringham difficult to impress when you are sitting on the pine
Or being played out of position because they had too many ruckman in team .

Think it is smart move as most ruckman improve their craft over 25 years old .

Oi Rors, your mate...
If Longer/Hickey go down we’ve still got Pierce as backup with Marshall also capable as a “emergency break glass” option.

He’s barely 23. That’s about 15 months old in ruck terms.
