Just a place to accumulate summary stats for the season as a whole:

An interesting one to start - Brisbane played the most games against the eventual top eight (12 games). The least against top eight sides was North with only eight. The next most after us was Sydney and Carlton with 11 games against top eight sides.

Brisbane played the equal least games against bottom four sides with only three (although obviously we were one of the bottom four). Saints also only played bottom four teams three times (they were also one of them).

Richmond on the other hand got to play bottom four sides seven times. Nice way to make the finals I guess.
Adelaide, West Coast, North, Suns and Bulldogs all had six games against bottom four sides.

Brisbane also played the equal most games against eventual top four teams with six (equal with Port and Hawthorn).

Adelaide, Bulldogs and Swans played he least with four each.

A bit tougher for teams in the top 4 or 8 given they can't play themselves.

Of the five games Brisbane led at quarter time, we went on to win four of them.

Of the six games we were leading at half time, we won them all!

Of the six games we were leading at three quarter time, we won five of them.

Of the sixteen games we were trailing at three quarter time we only won two of them.

Take home message for next year would seem to be get to the lead and stay there!

We won three of twelve games in Queensland.

We won four of ten games interstate.

The Gabba fortress hasn't quite kicked in yet!

We played 3 times at Etihad for 2 wins and a loss. 33%
We played 2 times at the MCG for 1 win and 1 loss. 50%
We played one at Westpac stadium in NZ for one win. 100% !!
We played 11 times at the Gabba for three wins. 27% :(
We lost at any other venues we played at.

In our games where the margin was 6 points or less, we won both of them.

In our games where the margin was 12 points or less, we won four of six

In our thirteen games where the margin was 42 points or greater we won just two.

Quarters won and lost

1st Q - Won 5, Lost 16, Drew 1, Points differential of -109
2nd Q - Won 7, Lost 14, Drew 1, Points differential of -116
3rd Q - Won 5, Lost 17, Points differential of -193
4th Q - Won 4, Lost 18, Points differential of -262

Overall, out of 88 quarters, we won 21, lost 65, drew 2 with an overall points differential of 680 (our worst points differential in the club's history, eclipsing the 593 differential of 1998 when we won 5, lost 16 and drew 1 game for the season. As an aside, our statistical worse season, 2011, with 4 wins and 18 losses, our points differential was only 426.

Not surprisingly, in 2014, we had 3 of our top 10 heaviest defeats in our history (Round 4 v Port Adelaide (113 pt loss and 2nd overall)), (Round 19 v Adelaide (105 pt loss and third overall)) and (Round 9 v North Melb. (87 point loss and ninth overall)).

In addition, 2014 also saw two of our top 10 lowest scores in our history (Round 13 v Fremantle 3.4.22 (lowest score in club's history)) and (Round 9 v North Melb. 6.2.38 and sixth lowest score)).

Lastly, our overall goals tally this season (221) was also the lowest in the club's history:

1. 2014 - 221 (7 wins)
2. 2010 - 254 (7 wins)
3. 2006 - 260 (7 wins)
4. 1998 - 261 (5 wins, 1 draw)
5. 2011 - 264 (4 wins)

As an aside, our totals throughout our golden era were 99 (404), 00 (409), 01 (415), 02 (416), 03 (394), 04 (403) including finals.

We won five first quarters and drew one.

We won seven second quarters and drew one.

We won five third quarters. (Worst of all teams)

We won just four fourth quarters (Worst of all teams)

We won 21 and drew 2 of 88 teams (Worst of all teams. Next worst, Saints won three more than us)

We won six first halves and five second halves.

Lots of room for improvement.

Tom Rockliff got 7.6% of the Brisbane Lions total disposals. I wonder if this is an all time record for a player's percentage of total team disposals.

Tom Rockliff
>40 disposals in five games (including four of his last five games)
>30 disposals in thirteen games (including the >40 games)
>20 disposals in fifteen games (including the >30 games)
<20 disposals in three games

That is remarkable.

Probably only Ablett in the Suns' first year or two would come close.

I may be wrong but I think Green's 33 goals is the first time in the last three years that our leading goalkicker has topped 30.

If in 2015 Green can maintain his 30, and Jono or Close kick Thirty as well, we are away.
