Thread for the Masters 1000 event in Canada this coming week, first of the big tune-ups before New York. Federer and Ferrer are out this week. Djokovic/Wawrinka, Nishikori/Murray are the halves. Kyrgios plays Verdasco in the first round (tough match coming from a break) and Tomic plays Sousa. Duckworth will play Kudla tonight for a spot in the main draw. Kokkanksis lost disappointingly this morning in qualfying along with JP Smith.

Coverage on ESPN all week.

Lots of rain about in Toronto. Only got 2 matches completed. Lisicki beating Venus 6-0 6-3 was a nice win after a bad loss to Date-Krumm last week.

Didn't watch the match but Nick dropped this absolute zinger to Stan in the middle of the match...

He's referring to Donna Vekic... Nick and Kok used to tweet her quite a bit a year ago but haven't been this year.

They're all good mates, but random as hell from Nick. :D

Magnus Norman (stans coach) responds on twitter:
"That was really really low Nick Kyrgios. Hope for u that u have people around that will teach u a thing or 2 about life tonight. Very bad

Honestly it was uncalled for by Nick, heat of the moment yes, but you can't go around saying that, that stays in the locker room.

Hard to defend Nick here. Taking lessons from cricket players no doubt.

It's fantastic. If you though a face turn was coming, Nick just ******* destroyed you.

Watching him turn into a real life Aaron Williams/Kenny Powers is exactly what tennis needs.

Not to defend Kyrgios but I can see why he got so angry to say something so silly.

He hit the line twice in the first set tie break and should have easily won the set but the linesman screwed him over and called it out both times.

They were really bad calls by the same linesman. When Kyrgios complained to the umpire about the linesman at the end of the set, Wawrinka told him to STFU, so he made that comment.

What a *******h, would have a copped a punch if he said that on a cricket field

Thanks for providing the context to the situation. All we will hear in the media is what nick said and not the situation leading up to it.
