It won't be much consolation, but there was a single Newspoll in September 2011 that had Gillard at -45 net approval. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_Australian_federal_election,_2013)

If Newman has gone backwards in Ashgrove, another surge from the LNP would be a surprise to me. Usually these things swing the same way as he has had some public fails this week and represents the whole party.

Would've thought Keating had worse numbers at some point as well as Gillard, but still if these numbers aren't fatal then they're very close to it.

At least Gillard had the excuse of having Rudd and co white-anting the s**t out of her and the media leading it's own war on her at the same time, Abbott's troubles are from self-implosion.

Gillard had plenty of self-implosion going for her as well, but undoubtedly she had more things going against her that were out of her control.
