Lewis' comments today imply that they are beyond talking themselves up or down. They know where they are at and know what they have to achieve.
Yes the players comments are making me quietly confident, and apparently the players are getting sick of the media saying we can't handle Ports speed.I don't blame them.

I think this is the approach that plays to our strengths. We have the bigger bodied players, so we should seek out a physical game. Against teams that specialise in the rolling maul, on the other hand, we try to get the ball to the outside as fast as possible.

Been thinking Sewell's spot was in danger, given they subbed him against Geelong, but now think he is safe unless they bring Cyril back; you don't bring Suckling back to hurt them on the inside.

Agree with this. Its reminds me a lot of the inner confidence / steel the great Lions sides of 2001-2004 had within the playing group.

Here's hoping this is 2003 and not 2004

I called Ticketek this afternoon. The lady double-checked with her manager and said you cannot upgrade from concession to adult for a GF ticket. She actually thought it was possible, but she spoke with her manager and said it's not possible.

I called the NMFC and they said the same thing. Perhaps they have changed the rules since last year...

Wow, that changes things for me too.
Are you sure that they understood you meant to upgrade on the day, at the ground, after the ticket was bought?

Actually, just called and asked myself.
I stand corrected, you can't. Changed it this year apparently. What a pain I the arse. Guess I'm gonna have to reduce my membership to a a single adult now post season.

Anyone know what BetJam are saying about the game? On their FB page they said they tipped both winners last week and were scarily close to the margin. I don't want to subscribe to one of their packages just to know what they have come up with for one game. I don't even know if they've let their subscribers know yet. Anyhoo, any info is appreciated - just keen to know from them...I so badly want us to go B2B!!! Hasn't been done since the Lions - and beating the Swans makes up for 2012, BIG TIME!

Just go in, its very unlikely that you'd be checked anyway

Each attendant is manning two turnstiles... it'd be really easy to have your mate go through one just before you are going through the other one. All he has to do is distract the attendant while you go through and no one will see the concession light flash...

it goes without saying that you do this after 2pm when its busy as

Ditto. But for some reason I'm fatalistic about Saturday's game. I'm confident we can beat them, but to a certain extent luck plays a part and if they get their tails up they could be hard to stop. I'll be more nervous next week (if we get past Saturday). One part of me wants us to meet the Syds, the other part hates the mere idea of being done by them a second time.

I am gonna need a footy record this week, I have no idea who any of them are, cpt Robbie Grey he has 9 right? and a stupid haircut, like really... no idea I feel bad.

I will recognise Travis Boak, he grew up around the corner.

Apart from that, I can't give you much either.

Hawks fans were allocated 67/33 of the General Admission bays during the member only period. They moved around 25000 tickets to Hawks members and 9000 tickets to Power members.

We'll probably have 40000 to 45000 there and Port around 15000 to 20000. The rest will be neutral MCC members and AFL members (although at $150 per ticket we won't be seeing too many neutrals rocking up I fear!).

Hawthorn doesn't have a very big base in the AFL members but we've got a pretty big following amongst the MCC set...

Don't see how the Power will get 20000 people show up. It's fair to say the vast majority of people committed enough to travel to see their team, would also have memberships. The same can't be said about our fans without memberships turning up. We'll outnumber them 3-4:1 (though they'll probably occupy 90% of the police resources).

Since we have 55k members, how surprising is it really that half of them would want to come to Melbourne to see a preliminary final?

It's not but the member allocation period has long passed. I think the point Bayer was making is that Hawthorn have truckloads of MCC and AFL members that will rock up at time of the game, Port sold 15,500 tickets after the first 2 days (where supporters had to nominate whether you want to sit in a HAWKS or PORT board.

That said there is no chance you will get 27,500 supporters at the game, that's ludicrous...up to 20,000 perhaps but the Power don't have any MCC or AFL members at all

Then everything will finally be in place for footscray to complete their protracted metamorphosis into the British Bulldogs.

Well, once they get Stephen Dank in as their sports science expert, they'll be unstoppable...

Don't think Suckling will or should get picked.

Last time round it was mainly Port's forward brigade that did the damage to us. Didn't help only having 5 defenders either, including Schoey and Suckling.

Still, it shows the danger is in what to do with all of Gray, Wingard, Monfries, Neale (and then whichever midfielders are down their resting).

Talls are fairly straight forward now. Lake takes Schulz and Spangher takes Westhoff (or other way round). But then who takes the others? Not confident on Stratton taking a small and his ability to run with them as he's good on a third tale. Gibson would most likely be on Monfries and zone off him anyway.

Which leaves Duryea and Birchall to cover both Wingard and Gray. A daunting prosepect. Maybe Shiels or Langford can go back to help out. Or someone like Hodge goes back as he does, and Gibson then marks one.

Adding Suckling to that defense is not going to help out, regardless of his positives he's a defensive liability if given a shutdown role. I'd say Litherland would be a selection smokey if we're looking there.

Of course there were going to be some more member sales between the 9k reported and the game. It's just that Hawks fans (who aren't members) will show up, whereas I can't imagine a Port Power fan (having to fork out $500 as a minimum to come over here) wouldn't be committed enough to buy a membership.

We have AFL members, MCC members (and their guests), and there'll be non-member supporters.

I'll be disappointed if it's not 3:1 (though I commend the Port Power fans for their commitment).
