Not sure if this has been discussed, but surely the GF is not going to be played on the 24th as per the fixture??

90% chance of showers most likely in the afternoon, with a temperature of 16 degrees in Melbourne according to the bom.gov.au website. Out of the 4 teams left in the finals race-Monash Blues, Hampton Rovers, Mazenod & Old Geelong-which of those teams play best in wet weather conditions?

The team that handles the wet ball the best

The one in front at the final siren ;)

Sorry ... had to do it!

Had Old Geelong in the wet a few times. Particularly at Como and the notorious mud bowl!

After a 2 week break I returned to watch Preston play, with Electric small forward M Perazzola out again Preston had to look to number 16 to take over his Charlie Spargo type role, I was very impressed with number 49 and 31 who were very solid down back. Had the opportunity to have a beer with Eastsidepete who is very optimistic about the boys for next year.

Great day at the Frearson today. Slightly tricky wind but great conditions and good crowd in. After a tight first quarter where Hampton were better, the home side took it away. Flett, Cameron good in the middle and Plugger and Davo dangerous forward. Monash now through to play off for the clubs 5th premiership in their 60 year history. Be a big week with the traditional grand final lunch at the MCG on the Thursday and the big one on the Friday. Bring it on!

Can't see Hampton Rovers or Old Geelong defeating Monash in the grand final at Sportscover Arena on Friday 23rd September after the way the Blues took the game apart after quarter time. In fact Monash would've been one of the shortest priced favourites to win the Premier C flag if TAB Sportsbet did a market on the VAFA Premier C premiership after today's performance at Frearson Oval.

Geelong giving

Saw you there jase , what about the weather for next week

The problem for either Hampton Rovers or Old Geelong is (if they win on Saturday at TBO) that there is only a 6 day break between the preliminary final & the grand final. And we know just how physically & mentally draining the preliminary final can be, especially if the game goes down to the wire on Saturday. Could a 'miracle' occur on Friday 23rd September at Sportscover Arena-in other words, the Rovers or OGs upset the red-hot favourites, Monash in the Premier C Grand Final?

It would not be a miracle. It happene every year in every league, somewhere. The better team still has to turn up and give a performance which demonstrates why they have been the better team during the year. That does not just happen - headspace and preparation and coaching all have to be better on that day. It will be a ripper game, and in the meantime good luck to HR and OG.

Jas,local football 101 states quite categorically:'if it bleeds, you can kill it'-far bigger certainties than Monash have lost Grand Finals!
