It is an interesting question. My answer given the same injury run etc I don't think MM would have done any better than Bucks did in 2012. Bucks coached really well that year , funnily enough I see it as his best performance to date. Hopefully he gets a good injury run in 2012 so we can see more clearly what sort of coach he is. I wrote up a longer assessment of Bucks in 2012 elsewhere and have copied that below
Finally, do we win the flag in 2012 under Malthouse? Who knows.
Anyway, that's what I think on the matter. I hope 2015 and beyond make us all forget about this nonsense. I think we will surprise a few. Go pies.
That rumour went around but it wasn't true. Seems other, less sinister reasons were behind the move.Paul Williams left because he couldnt stand Buckley.
And there we were well 90% of this board being gullable thinking Malthouse would take the directors job. The smart ones knew that would never be the case and the same people still think Buckley is the right man in control of Collingwood FC.He also suggested buckley not take over in 2012, this was half way through 2011 when he said this on 3AW. His thoughts were why would u want to change things when everything is going so well. So that was after his quote about dynastys.

Are you implying Buckley is gay? That's poor form.
Just rad my list that I posted and add in anything I may have forgotten.I'm really glad all this is - for the time being anyway - being thrashed out again and again and again...where was I? Oh yes, being thrashed out again in the Bucks mega thread. It means if I avoid this thread I dont have to read about...about...about...about...
Williams is on the record saying that rumour is a load of tripe.Paul Williams left because he couldnt stand Buckley.

Hopefully when the season starts, all is forgiven.
That was more than a rumour though. That rumour went around but it wasn't true. Seems other, less sinister reasons were behind the move.
He is? They had a fight at training: how is that a rumour?Williams is on the record saying that rumour is a load of tripe.
Yes he is. I didn't say the fight at training was a rumour, I said it wasn't the reason Williams left.S

Not sure if you've heard him speak at 1/4 or 3/4 time?
I have and he didn't inspire me - he must be really good one on one, but not so much in front of a group.
Tarks was the same and so was Danny Frawley at VFL level.
Just my opinion, but I did share it when the coaching committee asked me
The good think about VFL coaches is that we get a bit more insight into how they motivate the players.
How do you think Taps compares to Tarks and Brown? Give each a grade out of 10?

a mate of mine played a few years under Tapping. He and all players loved him. When the board sacked him due to politics, a lot of players left the club in protest.Brown was nicknamed Rowdy as you know and I think he's naturally shy which maybe inhibits the group thing.
Tarks lost me when he had to resort to swearing as he was lost for words trying to motivate for a last quarter effort.
Taps is better than both of them in a group setting and having coached kids before probably helps.
That said, all three can obviously work one on one and perhaps with direction from others makes that a bit easier for some.

Williams is quoted in Buckley's book saying that the rumour is bullshit. They may have had a fight, big deal. Williams stated that he was a bit stale and needed a change but hey, that may not suit your argument so he was talking s**t just for the sake of the book. Burns and Buckely went head to head on quite a few occasions on the track and low and behold, Burns is back.S

Mick McGuane had a few issues in the showers too I hear
