Of course not..
Although the Reflakers will get smoked/smacked down by Joker and Denver in the first round, I for one am going to enjoy that with a spring in my step and a smile on my dial.

Lakers 35 fts lol

Some fun facts.

After the Lakers started the season losing 10 of 13 games, if you had bet on them to shoot more free throws than the opposition team, you would have won that bet 14 times in a row over the subsequent weeks.

Since they played the Knicks on January 31 - roughly about the time of the infamous "sleepless nights' ref tweet - the Lakers have won the free throw count in their last 11 games and counting, meaning you would have won that bet 11 times in a row too.

During that 11 game stretch they've shot about 130 more free throws or an average of nearly 12 more per game. They've shot 68% more free throws than their opposition in that span.

Overall on the season, they lead the league in free throw differential by a considerable distance, concede the fewest free throws per possession in the league and get called for the fewest fouls per 100 possessions in the league.

Just food for thought.

It's probably not true but it seems like the Lakers have had most of the contentious officiating go their way ever since that controversial game in Boston

Would be surprised if the Lakers are on the receiving end of poor/costly officiating again this season.

Lakers dont foul. Easy not to foul when you dont play any defence.

Lakers are the western bulldogs of the nba. campaigners.

And we're the opposite.

And we're the opposite.

Pacific Division oppression

Correct.

If you were to plot the differentials on a chart, by my estimation 27 of the 30 teams would fit within what would roughly constitute one standard deviation.

Only the Lakers, Dubs and Suns wouldn't fit on that graph, the latter two being far in the negative.

Interestingly the Dubs give up the fewest shots at the rim in the league - 16% - but give up the most in the 3-10 foot range at 29%. Not sure if that's by accident or design, but doesn't appear to stop fouls being called on them at any rate.

Milwaukee (22.7%) and Boston (20.6%) give up by far the highest proportion of mid range shots in the league. Unsurprisingly both teams rank in the top 5 for fewest free throws conceded per possession (although still behind the Lakers), and top 5 overall in defence.

No more or less than most teams.

Willie Green's a Monty disciple. There are issues with his coaching, he's not perfect.

Wouldn't have thought so.

No reports of turmoil at all, much the opposite in fact.

Oh please.

Get back to me when Tatum and Brown miss a massive chunk of the season together simultaneously.

We were 10 games over .500 before the injury bug caught on.

We have holes that need to be fixed.

We don't have a true point guard, unless you count Alvarado. We can get by on this when Zion plays, but it's still a deficiency.

Our offense/defense mix at the wings is not working at present. Trey's hit or miss offensively and sub-par defensively at the moment. Herb is the reverse.

Finally, I've never been convinced by the fit of having Valanciunas as our big. Maybe we could work it out spacing-wise, but he's a terrible fit defensively next to Ingram and McCollum.

As to where you rate our squad, meh. Pretty clearly we have the talent to be a 45-48 win team, because we easily had that pace in the back half of last season and front half of this season. Are we in championship contention? No, not yet. Never thought we were. People just become obsessed with hot-takes and being the 'first' to proclaim the next superpower. Then when we lose a few games, we're labelled 'overrated'. Who knew that Skip Bayless would raise an entire generation?
The Pelicans problems are extensive, but it is the lack of a closer (and as much as they are scorers CJ, BI and Z are not clutch) and a defense first coach that mean that they only win the close games if the other team fails to score down the stretch rather than winning by converting down the stretch.

Should have done something at the trade deadline imo (the Pels) but I think Skeletor is right about core and long term injuries savaging the Pelicans season.
