A point guard who can do what he does (whilst acknowledging all his shortcomings) was worth a longer look than a season and a half. Look at Payton and Nash's first seasons.

As soon as he was presented with another asset, he got rid of him. Core building be damned. Hinkie also delayed having to be judged by another year or 2.

Hinkie is the greatest salesman in the NBA. Best of luck to him; I'd love his job at his pay.

Very strange tha they had all the time in the world for injured bigs yet a young guard who showed some promise was dealt for a single first round pick (if I remember rightly).

I don't think thats too bad a deal. If he can get his avg back up to around 14/15 points he'll be a handy player for them.

But what are they doing?

Taking a 30 year old after just drafting a 19 year old project and trading for a rookie point

The dollars are fine, but its just a big mixed message

If they keep him for 4 years, then Hinkie has to produce results. He'd much rather flick him for more picks so he can delay having to put a good team together for another 2 years.

NY have and always will be stuck between a rock and a hard place due to their stupid fan base.

They are probably one of the only teams never to just rid itself of big contracts and vet players to do a full youth rebuild. Most likely due to trying to appease their fanbase.

My guess is Jackson is trying to rebuild with youth while making a few vet signings to make it look like he's still trying to build a now team with Melo.

Slight of hand trick to try and confuse the massed thickheads.

I'm sure as soon as any of the youth start showing promise he'll try and pull the trigger on a Melo trade to clear the books. Until they do though he needs to have a star player running around in the side.

*Cough* no draft pick *cough*

Think we are talking about Philly a year too early. If Embiid and Okafor both play this season and play well, and Noel continues inproving cant it be seen as pretty succesful?

Depends what they get when they trade one of them.

If the Kings somehow get Matthews, Id target Harris for the max over Rondo.
Collison
Matthews
Gay
Harris
Cousins

Actually has some potential and fits around Cousins. Especially with WCS coming off the bench as a defensive specialist.

Problem is I cant see Matthews going there for a couple extra mil a year

Harris would fit offensively, but he's pretty similar to Rudy - overlapping skill sets and both pinch hitting small ball fours. I do agree with avoiding Rondo and Monta though, they clash even worse.

Apparently Wes is having trouble finding teams willing to pay what he wants coming off an Achilles. It's kinda insane what's happened to Portland since he did it - a big 'what if'.

Sac could look at Gerald Green to add some spacing on the floor.

True, although he's like a more confident version of McLemore - uber athletic, inconsistent shooter, iffy defensively.

Suspect some contending team will try to make use of Gerald as Cleveland did JR last season, as a cheap source of points off the bench.

God, if only he was iffy! He is horrendous

Hehehe, yeah I was more trying to be kind to McLemore than dear old Gerald there - they both have the physical tools, but the aptitude is another question altogether.

Basketball IQ (drink Meady) probably covers it. At least with that, McLemore has time on his side.

If AAA is the only FA the Knicks snag that'd be great.

Should be Denver's 2016 motto:

Never realised basketball fans were so precious about a league utopia where as long as teams prescribed to their notion of win 40 games and lose in the first round, it was all okay.

Some borderline bullshit being sprouted out, let's make MCW happen because he won ROY. But * it, I'm done explaining actual truth and history.

Shoutout to Dez! and stewie griffen.
