MRP / Trib. Week 2 vs Geelong - Ballantyne 2 weeks

If you've ever played footy you know that's wrong.
I have - what's wrong about it? How often does Ballantyne have to be suspended before he wakes up that it's costing the team? Missed two games last year through suspension which Freo ended up losing.

Balla got to weeks.
Hayden Ballantyne, Fremantle, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Harry Taylor, Geelong Cats, during the fourth quarter of the Round Two match between Fremantle and the Geelong Cats, played at Simonds Stadium on Sunday April 12. 2015..

In summary, he can accept a two-match with an early plea, after the incident was classified as a two-match sanction and the player's bad record increased the penalty to a three-match sanction.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Geelong Cats Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The offence was classified as a two-match sanction. The player has an applicable bad record, which INCREASES the penalty to a three-match sanction. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a two-match sanction.

There was no need to go into the contest like he did. It was stupid of him then, the MRP just confirmed it.

lets be serious here.

Johnson has a worse record, deliberately runs up to mitchell from behind and snipes him in the back. 1000 fine.

Ballantyne enters the contest looking for the ball, arm out ready to grab, doesn't make it and pulls him arm in to protect himself against the bigger player. 2 weeks

Smedts strikes Spurr to the face, intentionally, while hes unprotected, 1 week.

2 actions deliberate actions which could've caused severe injury get less than Ballantyne.

The MRP can get ****ed. They have no ******* idea

Just dumb again. Has had an average start to the season anyway. I hope Croz comes in and dominates - keeps him out of the team longer than his suspension. Teach him a lesson. Not so much the Weagles game, but the Sydney game was vital

The hypocrisy of the AFL is noted, but that's what they are. Can't fight it and it will never change.

Its up to Ballantyne to not put himself in these positions to be cited. He does it at least once a year. No other player in the team does.

Watch the vision. Arm out ready to get the ball. Can't make it and tucks arm in to protect.

It's a ******* joke.

How hard is it to look at intent in these things.

Smedts could've broken Spurr's jaw here. How hard is it to punish the act not the result?

Silver lining - Crozier gets a chance to cement his place in the team, and Nick Smith carves Ballas up every time anyway.

That hurts.

Was expecting one week seeing as Deledio cleaned up a player and got one last week.

He has to plead guilty and cop the two I think. We have no luck with challenging the tribunal. In saying that, if we do go for it and he gets the 3, it's only affecting the Melbourne game

Can't really argue with it tbh. It's the correct decision based of the MRP guidelines. Having said that some of the other stuff players from other clubs have done and got away with was worse. Should challenge. Three weeks won't mean much when the third is against Melbourne.

Based on his bad record, I wouldn't think a challenge would amount to much?

What would he argue?

Disgraceful. What really shits me is the blow landed on Spurr's throat, not just his shoulders. It was a deliberate action, not part of a tackle or bump - and if that had happened OFF a footy field, it would not be a huge stretch to charge that slime with GBH (a Larynx is disturbingly easy to crush I'm told)
