Clearly Joel Selwood is the best under 21 player he won the rising star by a mile and dominated the comp in his first year.

Easy big fella..i just stuck up for you on our board...i have seen Gibbs play in more games than you..i think i can categorise him better.
Sorry but im still steaming from talking on your board last night. Thanks for the assist. :thumbsu:
I dont doubt u have seen a lot more of gibbs than I but I just cant have him in that group from what he has shown thus far. Ryder, pendles, Deledio have all shown/produced way more thus far in their careers.

No worries...on the Gibbs thing people seem to forget he is still only 18

About the board tell Dramoth that there is no such trolling history- aside from us joking round at xmas time.
About gibbs yep he is only 18 but no matter which way u wrap it he just isnt in the top 3-5 best youngsters running round- not yet. Remember he was a number 1 pick and rightly or wrongly those selections are graded more harshly, so unfortunately thus far Gibbs is behind the rest of the pack in the young talent race.

Players that have been mentioned...ie Pendlebury Thomas Deledio etc have had one or 2 more seasons under their belt.
I rate Selwood highly as last year was his debut as was Gibbs.

Debuts

Deledio Rd1 2005
Thomas rd1 2006
Pendlebury rd 10 2006
J Selwood rd1 2007
M Murphy rd1 2006
Gibbs rd1 2007

All deserving mentions

Gibbs will be a very good player, he has the potential to be a champion. He has shown it in glimpses. But at this stage, based on performance, he doesn't deserve to be mentioned with the other guys listed. He may turn out to be better thant he rest, who knows - but at this stage... no way.

Exactly the thread asked "best players under 21" not "best players under 21 who debuted last season".

I'm willing to accept that.

I reckon this year is the year that Gibbs shows why he was picked at number 1.

But on what they have done so far, I reckon Selwood, Deledio or Murphy.

...And Pendlebury. :D
To be honest, I was going to say Pendlebury, but he doesn't really seem like he can win a game off his own boot. The three I mentioned, have enough skill + talent to, but pendlebury just seems like an extremely good average player. If that makes sense?

How can you put Leuenberger ahead of Kruezer?

bc at this stage he is a better prospect. Leunberger would have been taken at 1 if Carlton had there time again no doubt. Either he or Selwood. Much better prospects than Gibbs. Essendon wouldn't take Gumbleton @ 2 either.

Hmm I think you need to watch more of him. One of the most talented young players in the game, who has extremely silky skills. His work in contested situations and through packs is absolutely brilliant. Every time I see him do it, all I can think of is a hybrid of Dal Santo and Black. Plus, he averages more disposals than the rest, and more goals than all bar Deledio. Superstar of the future.

No you can't because you are clearly bias to your own players. Gibbs is NOT a better prospect than Pendlebury, Thomas, Leunberger amongst others.

I think you need to watch more of him and then watch some other games that don't involve collingwood
