Who is staying a MEMBER

After yesterday im not sure if i wanna stay a member anymore, i have been a member for 17years and to lose a grand final like that is veryupsetting and disappointing. I know i am just upset at the moment, thats why im thinking of not joining next year. I love supporting Geelong but it hurts right now.

Geelong are in the early stages of their dynasty. Watch this space.

I am. Because I believe that by Hawthorn beating us yesterday, they created a monster. If Geelong have any pride, we will be back, better than ever next year. I believe that this loss could make us even more determined to "right the wrong" and win the 2009 flag.

I believe that we are good enough to climb the mountain again, and I want to be there when we do it. I went to the GF yesterday, and saw us lose. I want to buy membership, go to the 2009 Grand Final and see us win the flag, while we make Hawthorn our own personal bitch in the process.

Ha!! i actually dreamt that we won & the whole real event was the nightmare... kind of wish i hadn't woken from my slumber

I am having some pretty severe financial difficulties at the moment so i cant be 100% certain of rejoining next year... but i can be certain that i will give up a lot of other things before i will give up my GFC membership.. heres hoping my situation improves between now & the start of next season. coz i do think its very important to support my club by buying a membership.

It was a let down of a Grand Final IMO. I was hoping to see Franklin play well, Geelong play their awesome game style. Worst Grannie in a long time IMO.

I grew up barracking for Essendon until toward the end of 2001 early 2002 my (now) wife persuaded me to barrack for Geelong. {And yes, I am originally from South Coast NSW and at the time had only been living in VIC for a couple of years, so I am entitled to adjust to the AFL lifestyle down here and find a team that suits me best} I left barracking for Essendon at the peak of their success at the end of 2001 to a team that was struggling, I guess I fell in love with the town }

We went to a few games in 2002 to get used to going and joined up in 03, 04, 05, 06 (sheesh, I was even in the cheer squad for one of those years and got involved quite a bit) but due to my wife falling pregnant in 2006 and living off one income and to our necks in debt it was impossible for us to join in 2007, this year hasn't been much better financially for us either.

We're coming into some money this year so we'll be putting some away for a membership next year. It's been really heart breaking for us we havn't been able to support the club financially, it's hardly been our fault. For the 4 years we had seats in the old Hickey stand and befriended some really nice people who sat next to us. We looked forward to catching up with them each game. We lost contact with them and we're devastated we probably won't ever see them again We lost our great seats (Doug Wade stand bay 2 row V ) hmm I wonder if there's any way when we rejoin next year I can pull some strings and get our old seats back? Cuz even if there's the slightest chance I'll be pushing for it.

If both sides played their top game yesterday, the winner would have truley deserved it. Winning a tight game would be quiet a treat for fans.

I think a few things happened to us...

1. Several players doing crap. Can't explain it. An off day. Maybe they went there thinking the pressure was minimal because they won last year's. It's okay because they already ended the draught? We have that experience so gameplay should be easier? I'm only guessing. That's not to say it wasn't extremely disappointing for them.

2. Hawthorn forced us backwards.

3. Hawthorn were kicking long on the outside - we kept going short in the middle and getting undone. A change of gameplan may have been beneficial against the one side that could expose it.

4. Kicking. Eurgh. Did we get even one goal during the third quarter? Maybe we did, I didn't count any.

I think the team that wanted it more on the day won, to be honest.

I'll definitely be renewing my membership next year! Been a member through the dark times of the late 90's and early this decade. I'll be stuffed if I'm going to let a poor showing in the GF change that!
