Thought he played well tonight, only got 1 goal but presented and marked well and I'll admit I wasn't too pleased with his marking, tonight he showed me that he is very capable. The start of that third quarter when we kicked a ton of points and Betts finally got one was good, but when Hendo plucked that marked and kicked the next one you could just see how the whole team got inspired by it. Was sensational to see the team galvanised by that one bit of play all running up to congratulate him and a lot of goals followed it. It was as if that Betts goal kind of raised the confidence but then the Hendo goal really boosted it, me and my mates got really fired up by it too. Well done Hendo and well done to the midfield for also standing up a bit Judd, Murphy and Simmo in particular :thumbsu:

Yeah, dont really know what to think of this kid to be honest. No noubt he tries hard but he needs to work on his decision making. He's a good lead up target if he can keep up some of those solid marks outside the arc. It's not always the best option to lob it from outside 50 tho...try find a free man instead Hendo!!

Love his enthusiasm tho...I can see the spark in his eyes!!!

The best thing about him is his work ethic. He's young he'll get better don't worry about that, but it just shows how inspiring it can be to have a target who can pluck the mark and get the goal. Whole team really lifted from that point.

Have to agree with some of the commentators tho, don't think he will ever make a real fwd target and be a goalkicker. Could be a good lead up man tho...had good hands i reckon.

if we can get it in his hands outside 50 and have someone with some height and strength to kick to inside the arc we'll be right!

Hendo will never be a 70/80 goal a year player, but I can see him having a similar influence as what Mooney does at Geelong. When his body has fully developed he will be a big unit & he already has a decent motor.

I'd be watching at Josh Kennedy for how Hendo should play. Obviously both are still developing and Kennedy is a couple of years ahead of Hendo, but Kennedy is on track for 50 goals this year. I think it would be great output for both Kennedy and Hendo to kick 50 a year.

I don't think Hendo will be Carlton's ideal premiership key forward though, as he won't kick the amount of goals required, or have the aggression and physical presence of a Cam Mooney type to make up for the lack of goals. If Carlton could get another 40-50 goal key forward, it'd help the forward line balance.

EXTREMELY early calls.....

cant believe people still write him off.

he has shown signs of becoming a superstar. i agree that he wont be a buddy franklin type 100+ goals player, but in a premiership team, i strongly believe he'll be able to kick 70 goals at CHF.

i see a lot of j brown in him, the way he gets up the ground and positions himself in the contest.

people need to remember, he's pretty much a rookie in terms of games played. if a first year forward was playing like him, everyone would be singing his praises.

he is 50 games, and 10 kgs off becoming consistently dominant, but will get there.

He'll be a star KP forward - no question about that. Enjoying the way he's learning his craft. I know the TV commentators tell us how he'll never kick a lot of goals, but I'm not so sure about that. There's no reason why he can't be better than Roughead and kick 50-70 per year. He has all the talent and attitude needed. Fantastic compensation for the Fev trade. Thanks again Vossy.

:)

Underate this kid at your own peril.
Will become a star and kick bags on his day.
Rapt with the trade.
Just wander over to the Bears and see what they think of Fev:D:rolleyes:.

This kid is the goods, is going to be a wonderful CHF for us, his tank is getting bigger and I can see him pinch hitting at CHF. Although he would be much better leading out of the square, love his work rate and the great thing is he never drops his head or has a cry, unlike the other guy who used to play in the FF position for us.

Agree entirely. Love what I'm seeing. Better than Kennedy at the same age, of that I've got no doubt.

I'm also confident he'll be a better player than Mooney. More athletically gifted with a brilliant attitude. Puts the team before himself (unlike a certain other forward), leads all day and is clearly very popular with his teammates.

Given the way he plays, strength will be a very important part of his game. Not overly quick and doesn't have much of a leap so we won't see his best until he develops that strength.

Can't say I agree at all. I think he has the potential to be a very good CHF. Whether he reaches that potential is yet to be seen, but I'm backing him in. I think he will be a very good player in time.

The JK comparison was interesting. I actually thought Hendo looked way more dangerous than JK last night. JK's issue is when the ball hits the deck - Bower ran off him with ease - and put 10m+ on him in no time. He is way more athletic than JK. Hendo's work rate was huge - relentless long leads, excellent in contests. Could have kicked 2-3 more had his midfielders honoured his leads, and Hammer not spoiled his mark on the flank. Longer he plays, the better he'll get, and the more the mid's will learn how he leads. Like the way he's demanding the ball more now. A fantastic talent.

:)

Correct me if i am wrong but he played mostly back at Brisbane, he has alot to learn but he has a strong work ethic and can see a massive upside in him as a mobile CHF.

I can't believe some of the crap Hendo has to put up with. Some of his games have been fantastic this year, especially his game against Freo and Hawthorn. Am still yet to watch last nights game because of my 21st but as usual will keep a keen interest on Lachie.

He has impressed me and will be a lead up type forward modeled on J.Brown. That I am very confident of!

He has been great considering the circumstances that he came to the club in. He was under alot of pressure early in his time at Carlton and still probably does but is holding himself very well IMO.

Spot on. When he's been up against backmen of similar experience to his own he's done very well. When he's been up against experienced, older backmen he's struggled.

With more games and the extra muscle that will come with a couple extra years/preseasons he will be a strong contributor. He's got the workrate, attitude, athleticism and skills to do it - just needs the engine and strength that come with time.

Anyone else hear the commentators bagging Fev's attitude in the first half on saturday?
